The Manager, Governance & Processes (G&P) is a key contributor to the success of the Governance team in Global Risk Management (GRM), by supporting Governance functions and projects. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The G&P Manager has a sound knowledge of the Bank’s products and lending policies, combined with a good understanding of the Bank’s credit culture and bank regulations. The Manager is expected to work both individually and within a team, taking initiative and aiding as required to meet the team’s overall objectives. The Manager’s mandate will focus on process improvement of Governance processes in GRM. **Is this role right for you? In this role, you will have the following accountabilities:** Problem Identification & Solution Recommendation: + Identify and assess the materiality of control weaknesses, ensuring facts are gathered to support the issues; + Identify the root causes of the issues; + Quantify the impact of the issues on the portfolios or Governance, supported by adequate analytics to size up the impact; + Formulate recommendations for policy or process enhancements and/or corrective actions, keeping in mind the Bank’s customers, to address gaps against policy or stakeholder user experience; + Participate in presentations of findings with stakeholders, and help negotiate action plans and resolution dates with them, supported by your analysis to quantify the impact of the gap/trend; Support GRM and Governance as it relates to: + Participate and lead various projects as they arise within Governance; + Complete adhoc review and reporting requests; + Lead by example in all employee and stakeholder communications to drive service delivery and enhance relationship management; + Participate in Risk Appetite in validating financials and creating SCC material. Support Governance processes, projects & reporting: + Create, update, and ensure the quality of Power BI and Excel reports, Credit Risk Proposals, and other Governance forms for compliance with policies and regulations. + Collaborate with analytics or technology teams to enhance automated processes, data accuracy and reporting requirements; + Participate in stakeholder meetings to gather requirements, devise solutions, and communicate plans and status updates through PowerPoint decks. + Implement process improvements by managing SharePoint site content, document libraries, and lists, and write new content or communications related to process. + Assist in training session for GRM stakeholders as a Governance representative + Maintain access and updates of sites and documents within the Governance digital footprint **Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have:** + A University degree in Business, Statistics or Auditing is required. + A minimum of three or more years of progressive, relevant and practical experience with world class organizations, preferably with financial institutions, in credit / lending functions, and a proven track record of success in informed decision-making in the financial services sector. + Expert usage of Microsoft office tools, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Power BI; + Knowledge of SharePoint functions and permission administration is an asset; + High level of proficiency in critical thinking and problem solving + Lean Six Sigma knowledge is an asset + A strong understanding of the 5Cs of credit in the retail & small business lending portfolios; + Basic understanding of the lending processes, from the customer interaction, system decisions, exception approvals, condition fulfillment and funding process; + A strong understanding of the Bank’s delivery channels, centralized processing units and knowledge of various bank adjudication platforms + Strong communication skills both oral and written;Thorough understanding of the Bank’s organizational structure, in particular the three lines of defense; + Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements and the financial industry in Canada and other countries where Scotiabank operates; **What’s in it for you?** + An inclusive & collaborative working environment that encourages creativity, curiosity, and celebrates success! + We offer a competitive rewards package: Performance bonus, Employee Share Ownership Program, and Pension Plan Matching, Health Benefits from day one! + Your career matters!
