Our Culture + CAP employees make a meaningful difference by partnering with colleagues customers and members on challenging and rewarding work + CAP provides its employees with an energetic and collaborative work environment and encourage opportunities to further develop their skills—offering reimbursement for educational programs and participation in events that enhance your skills + We offer a generous compensation and benefits package, 401K, and more -- visit Careers at the CAP (https://www.cap.org/careers-at-the-cap) for more details Brief Description The Manager, Grassroots Programs is responsible for: + Managing the CAP grassroots advocacy program, PathNET, by recruiting participants, providing training, tracking activities, and driving member engagement while supporting the development and implementation of grassroots advocacy initiatives in collaboration with CAP members and key stakeholders. + Driving the success of the grassroots laboratory tour program and other advocacy activities, including fly-ins, action alerts, and congressional meetings, by coordinating logistics, preparing participants for effective advocacy, and ensuring timely follow-up and reporting to advance CAP’s legislative priorities. + Collaborating with internal departments to align advocacy initiatives with CAP’s broader messaging and outreach strategies. + Providing administrative support for PathPAC as needed, including assisting with fundraising activities, compliance reporting, PAC Board preparation, and managing mailings. Specific Duties Duties and responsibilities: + Manage the CAP’s grassroots advocacy network, PathNET, including recruitment, tracking member advocacy activities, administering PathNET member benefits and providing training materials. + Support the development and execution of strategies to increase engagement and participation in grassroots programs. Manage CAP members relationships with Members of Congress in key congressional districts to enhance advocacy objectives for the organization. + Track program progress and performance metrics using tools such as Aristotle. + Coordinate with the Political Programs team to develop, implement, and manage the annual Advocacy Calendar of grassroots and PAC activities. Provide administrative support for PathPAC as needed, such as assisting with fundraising activities, federal election compliance, data processes, PAC Board support, and mailings. + Mobilize members through action alerts action alerts, laboratory tours, and meetings with Members of Congress, ensuring effective follow-up and reporting. + Collaborate with CAP Marketing, Communications, Membership, and Learning Departments to support advocacy initiatives with broader organizational messaging and outreach efforts. + Assist in the development and promotion of educational resources, such as grassroots toolkits, advocacy materials, and instructional modules. + Executes grassroots campaigns in alignment with the federal and state advocacy agenda. Coordinate with CAP lobbyists to support legislative targeting efforts. Use collected data to identify new opportunities for engagement and create visuals and reports using Tableau. + Manage the grassroots laboratory tour program to advance the CAP’s advocacy objectives by connecting Members of Congress with local pathologists. Responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating tours, preparing participants for effective advocacy during tours, and ensuring follow-up with congressional offices. Expand outreach efforts to increase program visibility and impact. + Work with Director, Political Programs to plan, manage, and execute the annual congressional fly-ins, including the coordination of CAP member meetings with their respective Members of Congress, compilation of feedback forms and drafting of Hill Day Summary Report. + Also assists in the PowerPoint presentations, mobile app content, and other pre-planning for the Pathologists Leadership Summit. Develops and executes fly-in recruitment strategies. + Manages the advocacy data, including integration of grassroots data of Fonteva and Aristotle. + Helps to support the Federal and State Affairs Committee (FSAC) by preparing grassroots advocacy reports, synthesizing data, and presenting insights. + Manages advocacy vendors, including contract administration. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge/Skills Required/Preferred Personal: + Team player + Highly organized + Able to function effective under moderate pressure + Thoroughness and careful attention to details is essential Professional: + Strong written and oral communications + Familiar with the federal legislative and regulatory process and politically attuned Technical: + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite desired + Proficiency in grassroots advocacy software desired + Proficiency in association management software desired Education/Experience Education + Bachelor’s degree in political science or related field preferred Experience + 3+ years of experience with trade associations, government relations, grassroots organizing, advocacy or political campaigns required Related certifications + N/A Additional Criteria + Will involve some weekend travel + This position is based out of the Washington, DC office. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commute to the DC office. + Salary Range: $73,335 - $95,000 “The College of American Pathologists requires all new hires in customer-facing roles to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to the first date of employment.
