The Health and Safety Manager in Franklin WI will be a key stakeholder for a 340,000 square foot conversion facility and will play an integral part of Saputo’s strategy to optimize its cheese network in North America. Saputo has a strong history in Wisconsin and are proud to be expanding our footprint in this area.
The person in this role oversees plant safety and risk programs to ensure a safe and accident-free work environment. The Manager implements safety concepts to provide an accident-free workplace, planning and/or delivering programs to train managers and employees on work site safety practices, focused on education and prevention. The Manager promotes plant safety by working with all departments to analyze current situations and recommending safety improvements, analyzing accident data to identify trends and accident types that can be prevented.
How you will make contributions that matter...
Responsible for all aspects of plant safety, including OSHA, Illness and Injury Prevention Program, SDS, safety audits, and accident investigations
Work with other departments with regards to Workers’ Compensation, Risk Management Plan and Process Safety Management, Biosecurity, Foreign Material Prevention.
Responsible for verifying new equipment/construction meets federal and state regulations. Perform JSA during commissioning phase.
Conduct and/or facilitate safety programs and OSHA required training and certifications, i.e., forklift, confined space, lockout/tagout, and CPR/First Aid training; conduct fire drills; perform new hire and annual safety training.
Support site crisis management program and support activities and serve as Site Emergency Response Coordinator
Reviews Incident Investigation Report to ensure completeness and that appropriate action is taken to prevent recurrence; Facilitates RCAs for injuries and illnesses.
Support industrial injury/illness claim mitigation and management injury/illness claim life cycle in partnership with human resources to include temporary and return to work program.
Serves as or obtains safety expertise for the various plant functions in dealings with OSHA, including updates to management on current laws and regulations.
Manage OSHA compliance, state, and local regulatory compliance.
You are best suited for the role if you…
have three (3) or more years’ experience, in a supervisory capacity leading environmental, occupational health and safety, preferably in the food or industrial manufacturing industry.
have a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene or in a related field, and/or the equivalent experience.
have a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and Workers’ Compensation claim mitigation and management.
have hands on experience in successfully leading, coaching, motivating, and developing a team environment within safety; demonstrating strong communication skills, customer service skills and interpersonal skills.
demonstrate analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
maintain an OSHA 30-Hour certification or have the ability to obtain within 12-months of hire.
are American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certified, an AMR Instructor certification preferred.
are available to work on all shifts (when needed) to resolve issues and/or evaluate employee environment.

salary range: $85,370 - $112,050
salary offers vary commensurate with experience, skills, education, and training.
