About The Position

The Manager, HR Compliance, is responsible for managing Ameren’s compliance with employment laws, regulations, and policies while addressing and resolving employee relations issues. This role includes overseeing investigations, policy development, and ensuring practices are in line with legal standards, company values, and culture. The Manager will also oversee day-to-day issues associated with HR Compliance and Employee relations including, Equal Employment Opportunity, Workplace Violence, Americans with Disability Act, and other people-related compliance issues.  

Key responsibilities include:

Compliance and Employee Relations Management

Lead a team of HR Compliance and Employee Relations Advisors responsible for conducting thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints while ensuring proper documentation and timely resolution.

Lead team to manage employee relations issues and provide assistance to leaders in the Performance Improvement Process. 

Lead the process of responding to formal charges of discrimination or harassment with external agencies.

Engage directly in complex and/or senior level Compliance and ER matters including select investigations.

Monitor the applicable laws and stay abreast of regulatory developments to ensure adherence and compliance.

Collaborate with Ameren’s legal department on employment related issues, internal investigations, responses to external agencies, and other complex employee relations issues.

Work across HR to develop and ensure sustainment of employee relations programs to promote a positive workplace culture.

Policy Development and Oversight

Support Equal Employment Opportunity at Ameren through training and consultation with leadership.

Develop, modify and implement company policies and procedures as necessary to align with legal requirements and organizational goals.

Monitor compliance trends and evolving issues with employment laws (federal, state, local), and update company policies accordingly. Conduct regular audits of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

Ensure clear communication of HR policies to employees and leaders.

Continuous Improvement, Training and Development

Evaluate the efficiency of current processes and procedures and identify ways to continuously improve.

Develop, implement, and monitor compliance training programs for HR and leaders.

Ensure strong development and delivery of training programs on compliance and employee relations matters.

Coach and support leaders in handling employee relations issues.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Degree in relevant field of study, e.g., HR Management, I/O Psychology, etc. preferred.

MBA or Master's degree in relevant field of study preferred.  Coursework in employment law also preferred.

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred. 

5 or more years of Human Resources experience required.

3 or more years of project or people leadership required.

5 or more years of people leadership and/or large-scale project leadership experience preferred.

Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity regulations and employment law required.

MS Word and PowerPoint experience required.

Additional Information:

The Manager, HR Compliance & Employee Relations is a hybrid role with the ability to flex work time between office and home environment.

Ameren’s selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process.  Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.
