BASF is currently building a new Verbund site in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province. Announced in July 2018 and officially commenced in November 2019, BASF Zhanjiang Verbund Site Project would be BASF’s largest investment with up to US$10 billion upon completion and would be operated under the sole responsibility of BASF. BASF Zhanjiang Verbund site would ultimately be the third-largest BASF site worldwide, and will be built into a role model for smart manufacturing and sustainable production by utilizing the latest digital technologies and applying the highest safety standards.
The new smart Verbund site will include a steam cracker with a capacity of 1 million metric tons of ethylene per year and downstream plants for consumer-oriented products. By utilizing the latest digital technologies and applying the highest safety standards, the site will be built into a role model for smart manufacturing and sustainable production.

What you can expect

Within Industrial Connectivity for Zhanjiang Site we enable the digitalization of manufacturing at site by Connectivity and IT infrastructure services for production, logistics and technology.
In your role as Product Owner, you will be responsible for the reliable and secure development and delivery of OT connectivity services at site, as well as an efficient collaboration within the global product team and global regional BASF service units in both project delivery as well as ongoing service and support.

Main Tasks

1. As a product owner, you closely cooperate with the stakeholders and customers in production, technical services, and logistics to identify and understand business needs and industrial connectivity demands.
2. You collect and evaluate specific, technical and operational requirements regarding IP based communication networks and IT infrastructure and develop customer specific implementation concepts based on our solution portfolio.
3. You act in project teams, lead sub projects, support technology and service development and run regional roll outs of services to plants, run implementation activities and fulfillment of customer requests in close collaboration with our operational service providers.
4. You drive the technology and service development of our OT specific services working closely with the product and service owner of the global product team.
5. You apply our agile working methods and manage the OT Connectivity demand backlog.
6. Within the team, as a multiplier, you will use your expertise to support a continuous exchange of knowledge and ensure efficient cooperation with internal business partners.

What we expect

1. Education: University degree in IT, engineering or an equivalent qualification.
2. Working Experience: Minimum of 8 years' experience in consulting and planning of IP networks or IT Infrastructures.
3. Deep knowledge of new communication protocols, service and technologies in the context of IIoT, Industry 4.0 and network technology.
4. Preferably have experience working with automation technology at the interface between IT and OT or automation security, knowledge in the area of mobile carrier networks and 5G is a clear plus.
5. You have a creative and agile mindset and are familiar with agile tools and methods.
6. You possess the following functional competencies: analytical thinking, problem solving, proactive entrepreneurial action, good self-organized way of working and strong team orientation in an agile environment, complemented by a customer orientation.
7. Excellent communication skills in English.
8. You are keen on innovations in digitalization and communication technology.
