Penguin Random House, the home to a staggering array of beloved, well-known authors, bestsellers, and emerging voices, is seeking a Manager, Internal Communications, to join our fast-paced Corporate Communications team. This role provides a unique vantage point of the company and industry-at-large in a busy, strategic, and highly collaborative environment.
The Corporate Communications team is focused on bringing the Penguin Random House brand to all audiences through executive communications, social impact strategy, media relations, and internal global communications. They tell the story of who we are as a company, what we do, and how we do it. And, of course, we are united in our mission: To ignite a universal passion for reading by creating books for everyone.
We seek a Manager to support the strategy and daily execution of the company’s internal communications, while working in close partnership with the rest of the team. We are looking for a highly motivated and thoughtful individual with excellent writing skills and attention to detail. Through internal channels, this individual will spearhead ways to foster connection among colleagues and departments, and ensure important company information is shared in a digestible, timely, and innovative way. The ideal candidate will have an interest in communications and publishing, as well as a strong pulse on current best practices for internal communications and the wider cultural landscape.
The ideal candidate will be day one ready to think strategically on positioning our internal communication with creativity, big-picture thinking, and a fresh spin while remaining proactive and adaptable when changes arise. This position is a great opportunity for an experienced internal communications expert who has a love for detailed and analytical writing and delivering messaging that is clear and inclusive to our Penguin Random House team.
This hybrid position has occasional in-office responsibilities, including but not limited to meetings and events. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).

The Role:
Write, edit, and manage the company intranet’s news content, and handle its daily distribution through the email bulletin and other newsletters Create articles, columns, and news briefs for the intranet, interacting regularly with colleagues from across departments to both aggregate and disseminate divisional content, and develop original editorial content Write and produce engaging internal communications content that aligns with PRH’s brand, and to enable employees to understand PRH’s mission, culture, and key business strategies, and how they contribute to them Regularly edit and proofread copy prepared by colleagues Partner with Corporate Communications team colleagues to develop and execute PRH’s internal communication strategy. Drive greater engagement from employees through great storytelling and innovative programs Position intranet and internal channels as the premier, everyday internal communications resource. Regularly suggest priority corporate content for departments to feature after initial, company-wide publication to ensure it reaches as many employees as possible Create and maintain a robust and compelling editorial strategy and calendar Partner to establish metrics, track progress, and help develop tools to improve communication effectiveness
The Essentials:
4-6 years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, digital media, corporate writing and editing, or related function Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail Excellent copy-editing skills Ability to work on deadline Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks Previous experience with CMS platforms, especially WordPress Basic understanding of design for websites and communication materials Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills Self-starter with the ability to develop new projects and departmental initiatives Proactive approach to problem-solving A goal-oriented, collaborative team player Proficiency in creative problem solving, decision making, and time management Genuine interest in media, corporate communications, and book publishing
The Salary range for this position is $73,500 - $76,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
