Job Description

Provides effective oversight and triage of criminal and misconduct-related incidents/events identified by BMO, law enforcement and other financial institutions. Provides subject matter expertise and supports internal and external investigations through analysis, containment, mitigation and recovery. Ensures incidents are evaluated, investigated, supported and appropriate escalated . Provides subject matter expertise and oversight of criminal and misconduct-related investigations by following a disciplined and intelligence-based approach to detect and research activity and events.

Fosters a culture aligned to BMO purpose, values and strategy and role models BMO values and behaviours in all that they do.Ensures alignment between values and behaviour that fosters diversity and inclusion.Regularly connects work to BMO’s purpose, sets inspirational goals, defines clear expected outcomes, and ensures clear accountability for follow through.Builds interdependent teams that collaborate across functional and operating groups to create the highest value for all stakeholders.Attracts, retains, and enables the career development of top talent.Improves team performance, recognizes and rewards performance, coaches employees, supports their development, and manages poor performance.Provides advice and guidance to stakeholders to mitigate criminal activity, misconduct and related risk.Represents BMO on fraud related committees, industry forums and working groups, and work with external parties as required.Manages data analysis, evidence collection and recovery efforts to support investigations.Leads/directs resources in addressing incidents reported and assists in investigations.Resolves complex or sensitive issues and evaluates circumstances requiring escalation for resolution.Provides input into the development of the annual business plan.Ensures incidents/events reported are evaluated, managed, initially investigated, closed or escalated for further investigation.Provides support to business/groups and investigators in the identification and recovery of loss events.Manages relations with law enforcement agencies and other financial institutions to collaborate on investigations and recover assets.Maintains an understanding of the financial crime management processes, frameworks and techniques.Stays abreast of financial crimes risk trends, fraud related issues, relevant regulations and compliance standards.Collaborates with internal/external stakeholders in order to deliver on business objectives.Verifies cost effectiveness of all activities and continuously seeks productivity and cost reduction initiatives.Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations

​Qualifications:

Typically 8 years + of relevant experience in financial industry and/or financial crime investigation, including management and a post-secondary degree in related field of study.Experience in operational supportVerbal & written communication skills - In-depth.Collaboration & team skills - In-depth.Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth.Influence skills - In-depth.Data driven decision making - In-depth.

Salary:

$68,000.00 - $126,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
