Job Description Manager, Land Acqusition Position Overview As a Manager, Land Acquisition within Renewable Development, you will recruit and help retain a team of external land agents responsible for planning, controlling, and directing real estate acquisition activities such as site identification, leasing, purchase, and right-of-way negotiations clean energy project developments. Individuals in this position will be located in Chicago but will spend a meaningful amount of time on the road. You will be responsible for coordinating with the project level developer as well as the market leads for the markets you’re working to assure that the land campaign meets the development needs. Responsibilities + Strategize and support a portfolio of land acquisition programs for Invenergy's growing portfolio of large scale wind, solar, transmission, natural gas, and storage projects. + The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of executing on successful land campaigns in different markets with many different types of land owners and via different engagement mediums (e.g. directly negotiating, managing one or a group of land agents, etc.). + The position will work closely with the development team to ensure the land strategy aligns with and supports the overall development plan. + Lead and implement land acquisition campaigns in close coordination with project development teams to support project timeline and budgetary constraints + Manage external land consultants, legal counsel and internal land teams to ensure efficient and detailed execution of land campaigns + Ensure positive engagement and working relationship between Invenergy Development and landowner communities required for project success + Oversee the full spectrum of land origination, negotiation and closing of land agreements + Resourcefully identify ways to engage with landowners including cold calling, research, in person visits, and other acceptable means + Work with legal team to establish form agreements and determine acceptability of deviations from form contracts + Work to create a land agent onboarding and training program that can be used company wide + Create external land agent standards that serve as the basis for performance judgment and analysis + Assist with review, resolution, and reporting of title matters to support financing of projects, including vesting, mineral rights, liens, taxes, and other critical matters + Coordinate efforts among landowners, legal counsel, real estate support services, and other key project stakeholders + Conduct large landowner meetings and presentations Minimum Qualifications + Bachelor's Degree + 4+ years of experience in renewable energy/utilities sector, land, development,, real estate sectors or relevant experience. + Valid driver’s license. + Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to project sites. + Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications + Previous experience managing people and strength working in a collaborative matrix structured organization + A strong understanding of the development process of clean and renewable energy projects preferred + Strong organizational, networking, leadership, time management, and accounting skills. + Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills. + Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive projects + Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and drive solution of complex problems + Strong interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills with particular ability to succinctly communicate complex problems #LI-Onsite Base Pay 115,000.00 - 150,000.00 USD AnnualBonus: 25% - 40% The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills. In addition to base pay, the total annual compensation package may also include eligibility to participate in our bonus program(s) which are designed to reward individual and company performance.
