Responsible for maintaining GMP quality standards, plant safety, and manufacturing productivity throughout the department. Requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of equipment to support set-ups, adjustments, repairs, and maintaining all equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications. Direct reports include all department staff.

Foster a continuous improvement environment by evaluating and recommending on-going quality and efficiency improvements as it relates to process/engineering/formulation changes, machinery, documentation, machine utilization, and safety best practices.
Develops systems, philosophies and practices and ensures effective and efficient implementation across the organization, including creating effective communication approaches.
Subject matter expert and thought leader on all current and future operations trends for functional area.
Ensures due diligence with operations functional area to ensure compliance with related laws, regulations, and guidelines.
Provides business leaders with information and analytics when making key operations decisions.
Provides supervision for staff including hiring, training, performance management, mentoring and development.
Develop and maintain a capable, flexible, and motivated workforce by continuous education, cross-training, compliance training and maximizing employee effectiveness.
Responsible for key measures and accountability: OSHA safety statistics, rejects/holds, direct cost per unit, yields, direct and material cost variances, schedule adherence, on time delivery, and audit results.
Communicate to all levels of the organization so that all employees understand company and departmental objectives and have clear expectations of performance.
Evaluate machines/processes to determine if new or modified equipment is needed to meet manufacturing forecasts and to improve utilization, effectiveness, and reject rates through analysis and reduction or elimination of root cause issues.
Oversee annual standards reviews so that system information is as accurate as possible.
Maintain trained staffing to ensure service level commitments are achieved; This includes ensuring SOPs/WIs are current, accurately describe the best practices, and that all employees are effectively trained and adhering to those same SOPs/WIs; Cross-training of employees for maximum flexibility.
Promote an environment of teamwork and collaboration with all departments to ensure effective and efficient company operations.
Coordinate scheduling of ancillary processes by working with the planning department and the rest of the Operations team to minimize bottlenecks and help ensure schedule adherence goals are achieved.
Respond to audit observations by correcting deficiencies and performing detailed CAPA analysis to prevent future occurrences.
Develop all levels of employees to support promotion from within and smooth succession of leadership responsibilities.
Promote a safe work environment by ensuring proper and effective safety procedures are in place and enforced
Monitors operators and equipment throughout each shift to ensure all SOPs are properly followed and executed.
Coaches operators on proper operation and addresses violations with proper documentation.
Ensures production schedule is maintained by making necessary corrections and adjustments to equipment to maintain maximum performance.
Oversees process parameters and makes changes by setting up assigned equipment for changes in material, size, and product.
Inspects and monitors equipment for quality of operation when changeover is completed.
Routinely checks product for defects and imperfections.
Examines finished product for conformity with quality specifications and records.

Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Licenses:
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent experience
2- 5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong team player and motivated problem solver.
Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in computer software applications: MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to constructively interact with others to resolve issues and improve the operation.
Continuous LEAN Six Sigma training (i.e. 5S) is highly desirable.
Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
Experience in GMP environment (Preferably in Pharmaceutical Industry)
Team building skills and leadership qualities.
Must maintain a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop skills.
Ability to interact with other department Technicians, Schedulers, Product development and Information Services.
The ability to work independently, within a production team and without supervision.
