POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager, Medical Coding is responsible for developing a team of medical coding and review specialists to meet, maintain, and exceed required standards in productivity, quality, and accuracy while promoting a positive teamwork environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage large teams, including supervision, hiring, coaching, developing and overseeing of staff. Liaison with internal departments to promote ongoing communication, and collaboration on cross functional projects. Represent organizational projects and assist management with follow-through and implementation of initiatives. Manage all aspects of the department including the timely, accurate submission and collection of all patient and customer accounts. Ensure that all system configurations are set up efficiently and effectively within the software system. Monitors and validates adherence to Policies and Procedures, auditing as necessary. Monitors and evaluates employee productivity,performance to goal and success of department objectives, and other reporting deliverables. Builds employee morale, motivation and loyalty by fostering positive working relationships. Create full training and fluency of Medical Coding roles and responsibilities. Perform random quality checks for all agents to maintain highest standards of accuracy and quality. Maintain a tracking mechanism to monitor and track reporting errors. Create workflow documents including departmental standard operating procedure; track changes to reporting process and provide appropriate training. Complete special projects and other duties that may be assigned to meet business needs. This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and have an access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job. Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire. Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent required Certified coder designation / certification by AAPC or AHIMA 5+ years of experience coding in the medical/healthcare billing area- Lab a plus 2+ years in Revenue Cycle 3+ years in leadership role Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. Superior organization skills, detail oriented, and ability to be persistent and follow through Problem-solving, ability to adapt, flexibility in approaches to accomplishing tasks, and ability to independently arrive at creative solutions to problemsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft office applications and typing with excellence in spelling and grammar. Knowledge of numeric, oral, and written language applications. Excellent attention to detail and organization skills. Adaptability to change and self-starter. Ability to deal with challenging circumstances. Results-oriented. Demonstrated ability to work creatively amidst competing priorities to meet goals/objective on time. Ability to deliver training, mentoring, and constructive feedback in professional manner. Ability to resolve negative personnel interactions. Willingness to learn new tasks and possess a positive, service-oriented attitude. Ability to maintain professionalism during highly escalated situations. Problem analysis and problem-solving skills preferred. Bilingual a plus.
The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.San Carlos, CA $90,000—$125,000 USD
