Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION/OBJECTIVE:

 

The Medical Manager, Leukaemia plays a crucial role as the medical representative on the Venclexta brand team, responsible for the development and execution of the medical plan in delivery of aligned BT goals. This individual will be responsible for helping develop and deploy tactics focused on key strategic imperatives, helping to deliver medical objectives addressing prioritized evidence and educational gaps. Building upon the strong reputation and heritage AbbVie has in CLL and AML, this individual will also contribute as a cross functional team member to plans for new indications in leukaemia for existing and new products.

 

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

To proactively support internal company cross-functional stakeholders to gain alignment on critical success factors, includingThe sharing of insights supporting regulatory and payer submissionsTranslation of policy and industry trends impacting evidence needsAddressing technical training needs for internal and external partnersEvaluation of medical and scientific accuracy of core dossiers generated by the medical department (i.e. pricing and reimbursement dossiers, HEOR dossiers, medical information packs, clinical expert reviews etc.).To provide medical functional contributions toLaunch planning and launch readiness activitiesThe evaluation of future clinical studies, including those that may require companion diagnostic testingContribute to Global Medical Affairs strategic plansProvide input into Scientific Interaction and Digital/Multi-channel Plans for field-medical activitiesTo identify and engage key external experts, operating as the scientific interface to HCPs/Customer(s), Health Care Institutions, External Experts, professional associations and government bodies.Develop and maintain in depth knowledge for assigned therapeutic product(s) / relevant therapeutic area(s) through attendance / participation at key internal meetings/training sessions, relevant congresses, and seminars and by regular self-study of the national/international literature.Establish and maintain professional and credible relationships with key thought leaders / external experts and academic centers; this will involve participating in scientific congresses, coordinating advisory boards, round-table meetings, discussion fora etc.Screen relevant literature and other information from relevant scientific societies meetings and conferences and develop summaries of key messages for use within the Company (e.g. key areas of scientific/company interest, new trends in diagnosis, monitoring and treatments in the therapeutic area, etc.)Deliver scientific presentations and medical education programs to healthcare professionals individually or in groups (meetings, clinical sessions, etc.), where appropriate.Design and implement diagnostic research projects within defined standards and budgets (e.g. Phase IV, registry/database projects, epidemiological surveys, and diagnostic quality assurance studies).Provide medical/scientific input into marketing strategy and key commercial initiatives, as required. Monitor the environment for competitive intelligence (e.g. product strategies, studies, commercial messages, positioning, etc.) and communicate, where appropriate, within the Company.Ensure compliance with all applicable national laws and regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, AbbVie’s policies and procedures and accepted standards of best practice.
Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

 

Medical, Nursing, Pharmacy or other Bachelor degree in a scientific discipline or higher.A background in haematology/oncology, medical affairs or a related field, along with experience in working closely with the pharmaceutical industry.Strong understanding of evidence development, including the regulatory and payer needs within Australia.Excellent communication and proven relationship-building skills in effectively establishing new links with external stakeholders.Possess strong organizational skills, the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
