Join our team! In this opportunity as a Manager, Mergers & Acquisitions Risk, you will be supporting business stakeholders in decision-making by providing them with timely and relevant information to maximize value and minimize the risk associated with mergers and acquisitions activities.
About The Role
This role provides focused risk management support on Thomson Reuters mergers, acquisitions, and integration activities. You will be responsible for partnering with functions across the organization to identify and manage risks related across the M&A lifecycle. Your duties will include conducting risk assessments during due diligence phases, leading risk workshops, and ensuring the M&A process aligns with the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework. Additionally, you will identify opportunities to improve decision-making through enhanced risk awareness and education.
In this opportunity as Manager, Mergers & Acquisition Risk, you will:
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for M&A activities, including due diligence processes for potential acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures. Analyze financial, operational, and legal data to identify risks and opportunities.
Lead risk workshops, document risks in risk registers, and prepare reports summarizing key risks associated with acquisitions. Ensure these assessments include a detailed risk profile and are updated throughout the integration process of acquired companies.
Provide oversight and constructive challenge to ensure that risks across the various functions and segments are being effectively managed in alignment with established practices and risk appetite.
Identify and manage known issues during risk assessments, including developing mitigation strategies and tracking their resolution throughout the M&A process.
Develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts within and outside the organization. Provide guidance and support to business units on risk and compliance issues related to M&A transactions.
Ensure continuous training and development for team members and stakeholders on risk management principles and practices specific to M&A activities.
About You
You’re a fit for the role of Manager, Mergers & Acquisition Risk, if your background includes:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or a related field, including experience with Mergers & Acquisitions.
Proven track record of successfully managing risk and compliance activities in a corporate environment.
Experience in conducting due diligence and risk assessments for M&A transactions.
Bachelor's degree; A master's degree is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and risk management software/tools.
