Under the supervision of the Director, the Neuroscience Manager, maintains the daily operations of all neuroscience departments/ divisions,

The manager assists in ensuring all policies are up-to-date, develops new policies, and maintains quality / PI metrics, meetings and initiatives,

The manager serves as the backup to the Director of the service line,

The manager will have direct oversight of the stroke center team members, ensuring adequate job performance, ensuring payroll completion, yearly performance evaluations, hiring, orienting, disciplinary actions, etc.,

The manager will have responsibilities spanning the service line in the divisions of, but not limited to, general neurology, stroke, neurosurgery, etc.,

Will coordinate and participate in employee engagement activities to help increase and maintain engagement rates,

Will provide assistance to the Director in achieving and maintaining fiscal responsibility for all neuroscience divisions, including annual budget evaluation, creation and submission and monitoring all costs related to the neuroscience divisions,

The manager will assist with evaluation, planning and implementation of patient growth within the service line, including marketing and management of increased patient volumes,

The manager will assist/ lead the planning of applicable educational symposia as determined by the Director,

Responsible for special projects at the direction of the Director of the Service Line,

Ensure that Neuroscience Service Line is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations,

Education:

A Master's degree required,

PhD preferred,

RN license required,

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of neuroscience, with progressive leadership abilities,

ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS Serve effectively on designated hospital-wide committees. Plan, develop and implement new programs to enhance the Neuroscience Service Line and communicate effectively with the hospital-wide community. Oversees administration of all Neuroscience Service Line team members to ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE / PROCESS IMPROVEMENT Maintain awareness of current regulatory requirements Ensure department policies and procedures are in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. Design and implement an effective departmental process improvement program and make appropriate changes as indicated. Uses Lean/Six Sigma tools when applicable for process improvements both within the department and organizationally,

STAFF DEVELOPMENT, RECRUITMENT AND MANAGEMENT Effectively use available Personnel Department services for recruitment. Ensure candidates for employment are treated fairly, observing applicable federal and state regulations. Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained through appropriate via acuity levels. Evaluate exempt staff in accordance with hospital Policies and Procedures Oversee appropriate orientation for all new employees

EQUIPMENT PROCUREMENT, MAINTENANCE & UPGRADING Oversees service line growth and expansion including the procurement and implementation of new programs, equipment, supplies, etc.,

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Manage departmental budget by monitoring monthly cost figures. Monitor and report all significant variances within hospital guidelines. Prepare capital budget request within specific timeframes -this budget must represent complete and thoughtful consideration of the needs of the department and be consistent with the most current clinical care pathways and technology available- Identify and implement cost saving initiatives that are developed or proposed by staff, supervisors or hospital management
