What you’ll Do

The Northern Region Human Resources Manager is a strategic partner to the QLD and NSW operations and support functions by providing expert guidance and support aligned with Americold objectives and values. The Northern Region HR Manager will work closely with the Director of HR, HR Function, Management and Associates to create and improve work relationships, increase productivity and foster engagement whilst ensuring compliance with policies and best practices within the HR space.

Assisting in executing HR strategies, policies and programs across the regions of responsibility. Managing & overseeing the day-to-day HR operational matters Partnering with the General Manager(s) and Operations Manager(s), together with the HR Team, to design, develop, and implement the people plan in accordance with the overall Business and Operations strategies. Lead, mentor and support the region HR Team to ensure that they have the skills necessary to support the business best.

 

Essential Functions:

Partner with the Director, Human Resources and the HR Team to design and implement strategies that align with Americold objectives.  Support the wider HR Team in developing HR strategies that enhance Americold’s corporate culture and business needs. Coach and guide managers in HR issues, offering guidance and conflict resolution support.  Conduct Investigations and handle employee grievances in line with Company policy as appropriate legislation. Functions as HR contact for communication and implementation of corporate initiatives in the field.  Facilitate continuous improvement via evaluation of current processes and procedures Lead training on company policies, procedures, benefits, and management development - Where required Coordinate relevant site Enterprise Bargaining / Collective Agreement negotiations, in conjunction with Director HR & site leadership  Facilitate and Support performance management programs to enhance employee growth and engagement. Assist with creating development plans where required and provide guidance on appropriate training.  Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations. Develop, review, implement, and communicate HR policies and procedures. Advise business on legal and compliance risks where required. Act as a change champion, guiding leaders and employees through organisational change Maintain relationships with preferred employment agencies. Establish relationships with Unions and employee delegates Drive a harmonious industrial relations environment by ensuring procedural fairness and delivering best practices.

 

What Experience and Education You Need

7+ year’s operational HR management experience. Proven experience in Industrial Relations environments Experience within Warehouse and Logistics would be advantageous Experience leading a successful Human Resource Team Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or Business are desired but not essential. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Desirable). Lean Six Sigma certification (Desirable). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to consult, influence and deliver HR solutions. Intermediate computer literacy, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Able to travel to sites and interstate travel when necessary.  Experience working independently in an operational HR role. Ability to work in a cold/chiller environment due to the nature of the business.

Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems in a fast-paced environment where deadlines and scopes may change regularly while maintaining accuracy. Demonstrated ability to self-start with little or no direction preferred. Must be able to relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions sufficient to partner with colleagues without exhibiting behavioral extremes.
