What Nuclear Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health

Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.

Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines; may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.

Job Summary

The Manager, Nuclear Pharmacy oversees one of Cardinal Health’s nuclear pharmacies to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations and timely, quality delivery of radiopharmaceuticals to customers. This job’s successful management of the nuclear pharmacy drives the business units’ operating margins and earnings. With expert knowledge of the local market, the Manager provides input into short- to mid-term commercial strategy and, through strong customer service and relationships, builds the foundation for the long-term growth of the business unit.

Responsibilities

Drives operational efficiency by directing the nuclear pharmacy’s adherence to the business unit’s standard operating procedures. Implements operational changes cascaded from business unit leaders and shares local best practices with Regional Directors and other Managers, Nuclear Pharmacy.Works on the compounding of nuclear medications, testing for quality, and directing distribution of medication using a team of drivers.Assesses and maintains pharmacy inventory and executes necessary orders, including reviews, to maintain optimal supply and ongoing availability of drugs, identifying and procuring alternative drugs to mitigate risks, when necessary.Ensures that nuclear pharmacy operations are in line with business unit’s standard operating procedures in order to achieve compliance with national and state radiopharmaceutical regulations. Applies expert knowledge of state and regional regulations to mitigate any compliance risks and directs trainings for all employees in nuclear pharmacy. Serves as the Authorized User and Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for the pharmacy.Oversees fleet logistics to deliver radiopharmaceuticals to customers, managing product decay and time sensitivity of delivery. Communicates with customers during material shortages, market disruptions, or other unforeseen circumstances to maintain business continuity and adapt customer commitments.Supervises teams of pharmaceutical professionals, and champions a culture of compliance and high performance. Directs all people management processes for the assigned team.


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and/or PharmD is requiredActive Puerto Rico Pharmacist’s license and Registration is required6+ years of experience in pharmacy administration is requiredPrior supervisory experience is requiredExperience in hospital environments, nuclear pharmacy or nuclear certification is preferredStrong customer service skills.Ability to lift weight up to 75 poundsIntermediate computer skills Bilingual English and Spanish verbal and written is requiredWork Schedule is: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm, must have flexibility to work various shifts, night shifts or extended hours as neededA Covid-19 vaccination or a legitimate accommodation is required in order to be employed in this position.
