Monterey Park Hospital, located in San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, is recruiting for a full time Nursing Informatics/Education Manager. Monterey Park Hospital is a 101 bed acute care community hospital providing our community with advanced medical and culturally sensitive health-care services for over 50 years. The Hospital employs approximately 480 clinical and non-clinical staff. The Nursing Information/Education Manager reports to the Chief Nursing Officer.

Responsibilities

The Nursing Informatics/Education Manager acts as an application analyst acting as the clinical liaison to nursing, medical staff, staff and other patient/non-patient care areas to coordinate aspects of planning, designing, development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of clinical information systems including the electronic medical record (EMR). Duties include analyzing complex clinical operations and structure processes to facilitate decision making regarding clinical systems; utilizing the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer applications; and ensuring information systems are consistent with professional standards of practice. The RN Nursing Informatics/Education Manager will stay abreast of information technology, provide options on emerging technologies and aid in adopting technology and incorporating it into existing systems and procedures. Leads or participates in projects involving technical components or technological risk. Directly reports to the CNO with dotted line to Information Technology Director.

Qualifications

Experience: 3 years clinical nursing experience required. One (1) year supervisory experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Informatics or BSN/MSN preferred.
License/Certification: A valid, current Registered Nurse license required. BCLS required.
Other:
• Knowledge of The Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Teaching skills required.

• Experience with EMR systems required to create and modify patient care templates.
• Some supervisory experience preferred.
• Highly analytical, creative thinking and problem solving skills.
• Broad knowledge of multiple areas of business systems, PCs, collaborative computing skills, process improvement techniques, information management in healthcare preferred.
• General knowledge of systems integration, laws and regulations preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Experience in handling legal and confidential material preferred.
• Experience in performing Project management preferred.

• Experience with Quality improvement reviews preferred.

• Experience with the development of and structuring of on-site education classes to be created and executed for staff.

• Previous experience in grant writing preferred.

• Experience in new grad development preferred.
