Manager, Offshore Accounts

Manager, Offshore Accounts, in support of the ABS Mission and the continued growth of the offshore market share, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining and where necessary strengthening the existing ABS/Account relationships or developing the relationship with a new account. The incumbent shall endeavor to understand the complex challenges, including design, fabrication, and regulatory issues, faced by the accounts and assist in the identification of innovative solutions that draw on the knowledge and expertise of ABS with the aim of expanding value-added services. 

The incumbent's designated accounts could be an owner and/or operator with new/existing assets, a designer with new/existing designs, a builder contracted for new construction or modification of an existing unit/facility, and/or a vendor with new/existing products for classification/certification, government agencies or a combination of account types.

Where the account’s major offices are located in multiple locations across the globe, with more than one Manager, Offshore Accounts may be assigned to the same account: one serving the corporate level and another for the support of ABS-specified division/region/task.

What You Will Do:

Serves as the Global Offshore Account Manager to designated account(s). Maintains awareness regarding the promotion of ABS services at levels and monitors Client Satisfaction on a periodic basis to ensure the quality of ABS services are delivered to the account.  Actively promotes the services and capabilities of ABS to assigned accounts. Inputs, and updates opportunities, maintains intelligence on assigned account(s), and confirms that these are properly documented in ABS’ current client relationship management (CRM) system. Facilitates communications between accounts and ABS. Provides account updates to ABS Management on an as-needed basis in accordance with established procedures/practices.  Maintains working relationships and effective communication with other ABS Managers, Offshore Accounts, Offshore Technology, and Business Development personnel. Maintains good communications within ABS on service delivery for current projects and potential opportunities. Ensures that any recommended improvements in service delivery issues as well as the development of new services to satisfy account needs, are routed to the responsible discipline(s) within ABS. Provides input into Business Plan in support of the ABS strategy. Communicates and tracks metrics that address performance against the Business Plan. Performance Indicators are in the form of Account Satisfaction Surveys or other indicators that may be defined. Maintains good communication with personnel assigned to various disciplines of the account, such as engineering, operations, survey, finance, etc. Holds periodic meetings with account personnel and promotes similar meetings between ABS and account personnel. Maintains awareness regarding ABS products, services, and technology as it relates to offshore sectors. Maintains awareness regarding offshore industry market intelligence affecting our accounts,  Maintains awareness regarding our account’s current and future worldwide activities. Provides input to assist in establishing priorities for new research and new product/services design and development projects for ABS.  Maintains awareness regarding ABS services to the account. Monitors survey engineering and project management issues and take appropriate action where required. Takes an active role in the development of the annual “Offshore visit plan” for assigned accounts and associated “ Zipper Plans.” Assist in the organization of meetings between accounts’ senior management and ABS senior management on an as-needed basis. Takes an active role in the development of capture strategies for opportunities, either as the opportunity owner or a partner. Promotes ABS training/seminars to our account(s), especially regarding the use of ABS systems, and also promotes cross-training between ABS and account personnel.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

At least 10 years of relevant practical experience in either marine or offshore industry. Degree or equivalent from an institution recognized within a relevant field of engineering or physical science (a minimum three-year or four-year program depending on local education system); or A qualification from a suitable marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certified ship officer.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The knowledge and ability to communicate orally and in writing highly complex and unique technical issues to laymen and experts in related technical fields. The management skills to organize, plan, and direct the work activities of other professional employees. The human relations skills necessary to organize, direct and motivate senior level professionals and managers. These skills are also necessary to develop strong client relationships at the highest levels. An entrepreneurial mentality that enables the incumbent to recognize and capitalize on new business opportunities. Formal training in a recognized Quality Management System. Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.
