About the Team
This is a global team that helps process accurate and compliant payroll for a large, multinational organization. The scope for RELX US & Canada Payroll includes all 5 divisions of RELX (Corporate, Scientific Technical and Medical, Legal, Risk and Exhibitions), as well as any acquired companies going forward.
About the Role
Reporting to the Payroll Director, the Payroll Manager will manage the Payroll Team in processing our US and Canada payrolls with approximately 15,000 employees in all 50 states on a Bi-Weekly basis.
The Payroll Manager will be responsible for all activities necessary to process our RELX payrolls including the oversight of payroll administrators, maintaining related records, creating and reviewing all voluntary deduction reports, processing and reconciling involuntary deductions. The Payroll Manager must keep abreast of legislative / regulatory updates and best practices for payroll processing. The successful candidate will possess excellent time management skills, critical thinking for problem resolution and the ability to motivate and engage a payroll team. This position requires experience with Ceridian Dayforce, and a minimum of 5 years of payroll processing in a multi-state environment.
Responsibilities:
Overseeing the day to day payroll administrators and ensure deliverables are met for biweekly payrolls
Managing performance and weekly 1:1s with direct reports
Ensuring timely processing and audits of the payroll, checking for errors and advising of necessary changes and improvements, including that all Sarbanes-Oxley requirements are met
Maintaining effective internal controls and business continuity plans for all payroll procedures
Uploading interface files into Dayforce and train payroll support team.
Creating and running various ad-hoc reports for Finance, Benefits, Stock and HR
Assuring compliance with company pay policies and government regulations as well as the confidentiality and integrity of payroll information
Supporting and leading Payroll department in Year End activities and various ongoing systems projects
Responding to employee questions and concerns in a timely, professional manner
Partnering on other US and Canada entity payroll initiatives for process and efficiency improvement
Ensuring the timely and accurate reporting of Stock processing and reconciliations
Required skills include:
Have proven payroll experience in a high-volume, fast-paced, publicly traded, corporate environment
Display an ability to handle multiple tasks and work under tight time constraints and deadlines
Have excellent verbal / written communication and an emphasis on superior customer service
Have experience with supervision of small teams
Have experience with Ceridian Dayforce Payroll and HCM systems such as Oracle or Workday.
Possess excellent Excel skills and must be proficient in all other MS Office programs. Have experience with Smartsheets would be a plus.
