Manager, Pharmacy Operations - Pharmacy - Full Time
Position Summary: To direct, coordinate and manage pharmacy operations including personnel and operational responsibilities. Works to effectively lead the Pharmacy Department to drive performance, improvement and operation efficiency. Provides daily oversight, supervision, and management of the Pharmacy Operations and staffing. The Manager ensures that the department provides optimal services, is responsible for reviewing scheduling and workflow, materials management and competency. This position works daily with the Director of Inpatient Pharmacy in the development/revisions, implementation and communication of goals, policies, and guidelines necessary to meet best practice standards for providing Pharmaceutical Care. Education, License & Cert: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or higher required Specific 340B Drug Savings Program training and/or knowledge required Minimum two (2) years of experience coordinating and managing projects, preferably in health care, managed care, or pharmacy environment. Experience: At least Five years supervisory experience in a hospital setting recommended. Essential Functions: + Provides leadership, direction, and support to the Pharmacy Staff. Monitors team performance and trends, evaluates performance, and provides developmental opportunities for the pharmacy technician staff. Interacts with all staff to identify and solve pharmacy satisfaction issues. Completes staff evaluations in conjunction with the Director. Schedules pharmacy staff to provide adequate coverage for pharmacy services. Effectively utilize staff within staffing guidelines and budgetary constraints. Regularly holds employee meetings with employees and is accessible at other times. Approves payroll and is responsible for accurate payment of employees. + Works to nurture positive morale and organizational culture in the Pharmacy Department. + Manage and oversees the training and orientation of new staff on operation proficiency and professional growth and development. + Reviews departmental policies and procedures when appropriate, and provides input to newly developed policies/procedures. Monitors team performance and trends to ensure adherence to policies and procedures to provide the highest level of customer service. + Participates and works with coworkers and leadership of all departments on cross‐departmental and organizational initiatives. + Monitors the handling, coordination, and resolution of complaints/grievance issues. + Participates on QVA team, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and other committees as necessary to manage process change and lead cost savings initiatives. + Leads project management activities as needed. + Responsible for monthly department financial reporting. + Directs and oversees the purchases and inventory management of all pharmaceuticals and supplies within the department. + Integrates the department into the organization’s primary functions. + Maintains competence required for current job title and position. + Assures that ALL processes are carried out in a patient‐safe manner. + Works closely with 340B Coordinator to maintain compliance of the 340B Savings Program Other Duties: + Provides guidance to staff so they can perform their duties and responsibilities as necessary. + Participates in the human resource management functions of the department, including the selection and orientation of new employees, and the evaluation of work performance of personnel. + Assists with the development, implementation and communication of the department goals, policies and guidelines necessary to meet the most current standards of practice for hospital pharmacy. + Evaluates new equipment for efficacy and cost effectiveness. + Assures that all equipment used is in proper working order and has received routine maintenance. + Arranges for the education needs of the staff + Participates in audits and other evaluation techniques to monitor regulatory compliance issues.
