Catalent Pharma in San Diego, CA is hiring a Manager, Production. The Production Manager utilizes knowledge of the packaging industry, clinical experience, and Catalent network to provide processes and systems that operate in an efficient and effective manner to positively impact the Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) of the business. The individual will manage the day-to-day activities of those employees within the production group. This individual will ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with regulatory requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This position reports to the Director of Operations, Site Lead and is responsible for all GMP activities and functions of the associates within the Clinical Production team. The production group’s function is to perform primary and secondary packaging and labeling activities, supporting clinical trials and commercially marketed products.
**This is a full-time salaried position: Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm (on-site).**

**The Role:**
+ Schedule Clinical Production, Pre-Production and Label Control personnel to ensure proper staffing in a productive, cost effective, and timely manner. Perform formal 1-on-1s with all direct reports on a periodic basis and provide constructive feedback and development activities
+ Manage daily operations including direction of daily activities as necessary and actively assists with resolution of problems/issues with Quality Assurance (QA) and internal and external clients
+ Accountable for execution of the production schedule for the packaging team and provides guidance to staff to meet on-time starts and delivery. Responsible for analyzing and determining all standards for packaging lines and ensure compliance to all schedule for processes
+ Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource or operational challenges. Develop team environment in department and resolve all packing issues in coordination with quality department
+ Maintain a safe working environment and proactively identify safety concerns that may affect individual or other colleagues. Responsible for the identification, investigation, and improvement of Safety Concerns and Events (as assigned) for Production
+ Lead and/or assist in investigating deviations and complaints and perform Root Cause Analysis (including Safety, Quality, and Delivery events) and reviews/approves reports (i.e. discrepancies, deviations, and complaints). Accountable for the overall training compliance of Production, including GMP, HR, and Safety training (ComplianceWire)
+ Accountable for the overall quality of output produced by the Production group, including executed batch records and packaged outputs. Responsible for procedures and written content of those procedures in the SOP’s. Responsible for ensuring the completion of Daily Shift Notes and Operational Metrics and the appropriate level of communication between shifts
+ Other duties as assigned
**The Candidate:**
+ Requires a Bachelor’s degree minimum within Science, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Life Sciences (or related field)
+ Requires a minimum of seven years of relevant pharmaceutical or packaging operations, and management/supervisory experience is preferred
+ Prior experience with batch records, packaging operations or comparable operational process experience required
+ Must be able to manage employee performance deficiencies and correct them to reach expectations, and also effectively manage and mitigate challenges between employees and teams
+ Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and the full suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). JD Edwards experience highly preferred
+ **Physical requirements:** Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds; must also use a forklift/pallet jack periodically and spend time periodically in controlled room temperatures ranging from -4°F - 77°F; minimal travel on a rare basis; ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, and co-workers. Regular use of telephone and email. Hearing, vision, and speaking within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and fax machines. Good reasoning ability is important. Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business
**Pay:**
+ The anticipated salary range for this role in San Diego, CA is $100,000 - $120,000 annually. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
