Major Function:
The Production Planning Manager is responsible for leading the material planning and master schedule functions. Supervises the manufacturing supply function and the activities of the Material Planners and Master Scheduler. Maintains desired inventory levels that are sufficient to meet marketing requirements, customer demand, and result in an appropriate inventory level. The Manager serves as the key liaison with the Corporate Sourcing Department. The Manager leads Material Planners and Master Scheduler.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
Supervises the activities of non-exempt Material Planners and Master
Scheduler including hiring, training, and conducting performance evaluations.
Oversee the development, analysis, and revision of forecasts.
Train and develop all new planning associates.
Responsible for achieving departmental and divisional goals within areas of direct responsibility.
Monitors and supervises processes to verify consistency with departmental objectives to ensure inventory turn ratios and average inventory are within acceptable limits.
Assures that the material requirements for the assigned commodities, planned order and buy order information is done timely within Toro guidelines.
Maintains direct contact with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Vendors on obtaining a smooth supply chain and on time delivery of materials to the plant.
Supervises the SAP supply settings and monitors the parts controls to maintain adequate inventory balances at a minimum financial investment. Using past history, future forecasts, and other data available to insure that inventory goals and consistent material flow is achieved.
Identifies and pursues opportunities to lower part inventories.
Assure that all parts are ordered and expedited in support of the Parts department, rework, pilots, prototypes or special projects.
Works with vendors and buyers to assure that all vendor problems are kept to an absolute minimum.
Assures that the JIT program policies are conformed to, that all planners plan and execute to the parameters set down in policy.
Closely monitor and report and monitor any critical shortages to avoid shutting down production lines.

What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
BA/BS degree in Finance, Business or Logistics from an accredited institution
4-6 years of planning or financial analysis experience
2-3 years of planning or forecasting management experience in a manufacturing environment
Demonstration of leadership and talent development skills
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, reflecting an appropriate sense of urgency to all levels of management and with a collaborate management style
Proven ability to build and maintain productive cross-functional relationships to drive business and create/lead teams
Ability to negotiate and influence effectively
Ability to effectively lead and develop results-oriented team
Some supervisory experience preferred
Proven track record in managing a business to achieve financial targets
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access; SAP experience a strong plus
