Manager, Profit Management & Pricing - Wayfair Canada
Manager, Profit Management & Pricing About the Role We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Manager for our Profit Management and Pricing team for Wayfair Canada. This role is pivotal in ensuring the long-term profitability of our business in the region by developing and executing effective pricing and investment strategies. Based in our Boston office, you will work on a four-member team (with 1-2 analyst direct reports) and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive optimal financial performance. Key Responsibilities + Pricing and Profit Margin Optimization: Develop and implement pricing strategies to achieve optimal long-term profit margins for the Canada market. Utilize levers such as promotional pricing and investment strategies to balance customer acquisition and profitability. + Strategic Planning and Forecasting: Partner with Finance to lead profitability planning and forecasting efforts, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Contribute to scenario modeling to guide strategic decision making. + Business Performance Monitoring and Problem Solving: Tackle ambiguous challenges to generate solutions that deliver measurable impacts in profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Partner with the Business Trends team to monitor and evaluate overall performance, opportunities, and risks. + Data Analysis: Work with large datasets using advanced analytical tools (SQL, GBQ, R, Python) to perform analyses, identify trends and business insights, and develop reports to drive decisions across different Commercial functions. + Cross-Functional Leadership and Collaboration: Be a voice of the Canadian business, working closely with Finance, Marketing, Supplier Partnerships and Operations teams to align on broader business goals, prioritize opportunities and drive action. Partner with engineering and analytics teams to enhance pricing tools and systems. + Team Leadership: Formally and informally lead analysts on the team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. What We’re Looking For + Proven Experience: 5+ years of experience in pricing, finance, or a related field, with a strong track record of driving profitability and leading teams. + Analytical Expertise: Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to distill complex data into actionable insights. + Technical Skills: + Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, GBQ, Excel) and desire to roll-up sleeves alongside highly technical analysts to guide, review and improve code. + Experience with pricing or financial modeling tools is desirable. + Strong Business Acumen: Ability to understand how various parts of the business interact; can identify and approach problems from a customer or supplier perspective. + Leadership Skills: Demonstrated success in formally or informally leading and mentoring other analysts. + Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working across diverse teams and levels of an organization. + Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with e-commerce, retail, or consumer goods is a plus.
