The Global Merchant Services (GMS) Pricing team is responsible for the pricing of the largest source of American Express’ revenue, Merchant Discount Revenue. The team leverages Merchant Pricing to promote acceptance, grow coverage, increase merchant satisfaction, drive GMS revenue and profit growth. This business subsists on customer-centric pricing principles, dynamic pricing architecture and innovative pricing solutions.
The Manager, Governance & Controls is responsible for leading internal and external audits, upholding regulatory standards and supporting the root cause analysis and remediation of Pricing issues. The successful candidate will report to Director, Governance and Controls and will have considerable exposure to Regional Pricing teams, Controls Management team and other teams across the Blue Box.
Job Responsibilities
Lead internal and external audit activities while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, identifying risks and recommending strategies for operational improvements. Partner with Controls Management team to identify pricing errors, propose and implement controls while also providing meaningful reporting to Pricing leadership. Collaborate with Servicing, Client Management and Regional Pricing teams to review Pricing related processes, identify gaps, assess root causes, and advise on recommended solutions. Identify both process and system/tool improvement opportunities to drive greater efficiency and ensure all key processes and procedures are well-documented. Manage projects with ability to develop plans and timelines, analyze data, manage stakeholders, escalate and clear roadblocks, track and execute workstreams.Minimum Qualifications
Experience working with internal and external auditors. Ability to analyze complex processes, identify inefficiencies and propose effective solutions. Business process management, root cause analysis and improvement focus. Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written. Proven executive level presence and ability to influence at all levels. Detail oriented individual and creative problem solver willing to challenge traditional ways of doing things and propose solutions. Strategic thinker with transformative mindset. Demonstrated ability to balance multiple requests and prioritize accordingly. Proven ability in leading projects from analysis through implementation. Self-starter with strong project/program management experience driving complex, large-scale, cross-functional initiatives. Experience working with offshore teams is helpful. 4+ years of experience in project management, process improvement, and/or root cause analysis. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools: Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Bachelor’s degree is required. Merchant experience is a plus.Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $170,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
