Purpose of the Role
You will be focused on Property (Fire and Terrorism) products and conduct day to day underwriting and related tasks within the Major Accounts team in Singapore. You will have an assigned portfolio and a panel of distribution partners with whom you will aim to grow within profitable parameters.
Through your in-depth understanding of the Underwriting principles, you will anticipate challenges and opportunities. You will guide Underwriting Assistants and junior colleagues in successfully preparing renewal submissions and new business opportunities. You will engage with key producers to discuss ongoing renewals and/or new opportunities and liaise with all internal stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcome for Chubb. You will ensure an excellent level of service across your assigned portfolio.
This is a critical role, as you apply your underwriting knowledge and skills to contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the Property and Terrorism portfolio within the Major Accounts Division and P&C department’s overall business goals. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Achievement of the Personal premium budget
Responsible for underwriting of insurance products and growing the portfolio of the Property and Terrorism business. Maintain profitable renewal accounts as well as assist in the achievement of financial plans and business strategies to ensure profitable growth for Property & Terrorism. Drive new business through active prospecting, broker engagement, cross-selling, and other strategic initiatives. Develop cross-product team culture and instill can do attitude across the Major Accounts team. Leading the team and Major Accounts Value Proposition in external engagements with our broker partners and clients.Underwriting Process / Analysis
Secure additional information where necessary and analyses all pertinent data to determine acceptability of risks according to established underwriting standards. Review endorsements on existing policies to identify any change in original coverage or amounts. Evaluates, accepts, rejects or modifies risks within established underwriting guidelines. Guide the team in preparing submissions for higher review. Ensure that systems are updated with the correct data, maintain rates adequacy, rates validation and uphold our Underwriting philosophy. Coordinate with the support team to ensure valid and timely response on quotations and production of policies, endorsements, certificates, renewal notices, and other administrative requirements. Assist in performing peer reviews and audits. Be a mentor to the Underwriters, Assistant Underwriters and Underwriting Assistants across the team along the way. Perform ad hoc projects and other related duties as assigned.Production / Relationship Management
Maintain close rapport and relationship with brokers, maintains liaison with producers to obtain necessary underwriting information, promote satisfactory service relationship and to encourage the submission of targeted business. Engage externally with our key clients, engage in client stewardship meetings, client roadshows and other events. Develop a multiline view of some of our key clients’ relationships and broaden your knowledge from the Property product to all solutions that Chubb can offer to maximize the value we bring for broker partners and clients.Required Skills & Experience
Demonstrated underwriting ability and technical competence as evidenced by a minimum of 5 to 10 years’ underwriting experience or equivalent industry experience. Extensive experience and knowledge across Property products. Experience with Catastrophic modelling preferrable. Experience with Risk Engineering desirable. Analytical skills and ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within designated authority. Effective communication & interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, brokers, agents & Chubb personnel.
