As an attorney on the Regulatory Legal team, you will partner with subject matter experts to help support business operations and risk offices, business attorneys, Compliance and Audit professionals, and more. Working closely with these partners across each of Capital One’s lines of business, you will be a go-to resource across the company on interpreting and communicating new laws and regulations that are applicable to Capital One. Additionally, you will have opportunities to learn and help solve problems in different areas of the law, including advising other attorneys and business clients.
**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Serve as the first legal touchpoint for all new laws, rules, and regulations that may be applicable to Capital One’s lines of business, and draft accurate and understandable summaries and requirements for business lines in assigned areas that change from time to time
+ Support in-house business counsels and/or subject matter experts in their areas on a variety of projects as part of a yearly rotation program
+ Both of these typically will require you to
+ Analyze existing and newly enacted laws impacting Capital One, and provide nuanced, effective advice to legal and business stakeholders, in partnership with subject matter experts and business counsels, in those areas
+ Advise lines of businesses on the legal significance and interpretation of applicable laws and regulations tailored to specific business processes and practices
+ Do all this (and more) in a highly-collaborative environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibilities, promotes a growth mindset, and rewards your innovation and intellectual curiosity
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
+ Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
+ At least 3 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in-house legal department, or government agency
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 4+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in-house legal department and/or government agency doing work related to the financial service industry
+ Ability to work in a dynamic environment and flexibility to adapt to changing needs
+ Ability and desire to learn new areas of law
+ Ability and willingness to work as a team player
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
+ Strong analytical and organizational skills

**This role is hybrid meaning associates spend 3 days per week in-person at one of our offices listed on this job posting. Fridays are enterprise- wide virtual work days. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are options for in-person days for associates to spend time together working in our beautifully-designed team areas.**
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $158,400 - $180,800 for Manager, Counsel
Richmond, VA: $144,000 - $164,400 for Manager, Counsel
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
