About the role The Environmental Safety and Health Manager is responsible for implementing, updating and auditing a comprehensive environmental health and safety management system to ensure on the job safety of employees and overall safety and environment compliance. Responsibilities Identifies best practices and leads continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices Performs safety audits and inspects facility, machinery, and safety equipment to comply with regulations and to eliminate the recurrence of unsafe acts/conditions Investigates industrial accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities Conducts or coordinates worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment Creates and directs disaster preparedness and emergency response plans Provides technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary improvements Facilitates a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture Performs supervisory duties for the plant nurse position including, but not limited to, hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating and rewarding performance Ensures all safety equipment meets safety regulations and is available and in good working order Ensures all areas used by employees, customers and vendors are free of hazards at all times Leads safety committee responsible for raising awareness of safety concerns and taking appropriate preventive and corrective actions Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field such as Biology, Chemistry, or Engineering 5-7 years progressive safety experience in a manufacturing environment Skills & Abilities Ability to build trust and confidence with management and supervision Strategic thinking and leadership skills Ability to communicate with employees at all levels Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA, NFPA) Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Travel Up to 5% Leviton is an EEO/AA Employer.
