The Manager of Sales Training and Development is a dynamic role focused on building our externally facing commercial sales team capabilities. The Manager is a strategic, self-motivated, and highly-collaborative individual to lead the design, implementation and optimization of a structured curriculum to support the development of our Commercial Sales Executives, Account Managers, Account Executives, Senior Account Executives and Wellness Consultants. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of people development and client strategy, combining a passion for internal team empowerment with a deep understanding of external client needs.

Essential Responsibilities:

Develop, deliver and update comprehensive training curriculum for externally facing sales teams including Sales Executives, Account Service teams and wellness consultants.Oversee strategic development of service approach for our large employer and self-insured plans, ensuring alignment with employers’ goals for their health plan, employee satisfaction and compliments the broker’s strategy alongside PacificSource’s goals for client retention.Design and own the onboarding experience for the various positions that are Sales Executives, Account Service and Wellness team.Develop engaging, scalable learning content across multiple formats (e.g., presentations, knowledge base articles, e-learning modules).Partner with Sales leadership to align training strategies with business goals, skill gaps, and performance metrics.Act as a liaison between cross-functional departments (Marketing, Product, Operations) to ensure training content reflects current offerings and process updates.Support and collaborate with the Sales and Service Operations Manager with tools and documentation that enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.Conduct regular training needs assessments and measure training effectiveness through performance data, feedback, and engagement metrics.Maintain and manage training resources and platforms (e.g., LMS, intranet, playbooks).Collaborate with PacificSource Learning & Development Department to ensure alignment with enterprise-wide training initiatives and support in developing a comprehensive sales training program.Stay current with trends in sales enablement, adult learning, and technology to continuously improve learning offerings.Responsible for oversight, management, development, implementation, and communication of department programs.Responsible for hiring, staff development, coaching, performance reviews, corrective actions, and termination of employees. Provide feedback, including regular one-on-ones and performance evaluations, for direct reports.Develop annual department budgets. Monitor spending versus the planned budgeted throughout the year and take corrective action where needed.Coordinate business activities by maintaining collaborative partnerships with key departments.Responsible for process improvement and working with other departments to improve interdepartmental processes. Utilize lean methodologies for continuous improvement. Utilize visual boards and daily huddles to monitor key performance indicators and identify improvement opportunities.Actively participate as a key team member in Manager/Supervisor meetings.Actively participate in various strategic and internal committees in order to disseminate information within the organization and represent company philosophy.

Supporting Responsibilities:

Support facilitation and committee sales training and educational events.Meet department and company performance and attendance expectations.Follow the PacificSource privacy policy and HIPAA laws and regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected health information.Perform other duties as assigned.

SUCCESS PROFILE

Work Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in sales, business/client enablement, or learning and development required. A minimum of at least three (3) years in a supervisory role within a high-performing environment required. Experience in designing and delivering engaging training and development programs required. Strong project management skills with experience overseeing complex, multi-stakeholder events or initiatives required. Experience in healthcare, health insurance or related industry is a plus.

Education, Certificates, Licenses: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, health education, public health or related field, or equivalent years of additional relevant experience in lieu of degree required. Advanced certification in leadership, wellness consulting, or health promotion preferred.

Knowledge: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and dynamics required. Experience working independently, with a team, in a supervisory role. Ability to define and prioritize problems and manage workload with little direct supervision. Proven ability to develop creative program materials. Previous experience working with clients to develop, lead and implement worksite wellness programs and sales development training tools to support external clients. Excellent communication skills to interact daily with internal teams and external clients. Strong facilitation and presentation skills, both in-person and virtual. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to influence and lead without direct authority. Ability to balance strategy and execution, with an eye for both detail and big-picture impact.

Environment: Work inside in a general office setting with ergonomically configured equipment. Travel is required approximately 40% of the time.
