Manager, Software Development
Location: This role offers the flexibility of being home-based for qualified candidates in the US.
In this role you will be responsible for leading a team of developers through the design, development, testing and deployment of key features of the product.
This is a dual-hat role requiring the manager to perform functional management activities as well as software development. The role of a functional manager will comprise 25% to 30% of the manager’s time. Applicants must have a strong technical background in software development including software requirements, and software design experience.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the corporate functional relationships of all team members that report to you Leading overall delivery responsibilities and proactively working to reduce roadblocks Following and promoting Agile practices in the team Ensuring that the Software Development procedures are followed, conduct retrospectives, code reviews, etc. Coaching software engineers with their current responsibilities Design procedures to increase product reliability and test coverage. Make recommendations for design, process improvements, and data collection. Ensure consistency and quality of the product.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a bachelor’s degree OR master’s degree in computer science or engineering. Must have at least 5 years of experience with all phases of the software development process Must have at least 5 years of experience in C/C++ or other OOP languages This position does not require travel. Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in computer science or computer engineering Familiarity with tools like Rhino 3D Experience working in a DevOps culture with continuous integration / continuous deliveries Lead or management experience in a team environment Experience in Agile software development methodologies such as Scrum and test-driven approach Experience with UI/UX Design and Implementation
