As an Email Engineer (Software Development Engineer), you will play an integral role within Schwab’s in-house agency Creative Center (C2), in helping to contribute and execute on our marketing and business partners’ vision. The target candidate helps to ensure the best quality for our consumers, collaborate on the strategic vision and path for email marketing to support the overall business, and develop a best-in-class customer experience.
Description of Role: Our nimble, flexible, and collaborative technology team is looking for someone that is equally as brilliant at connecting the dots, understands the needs of business cases, and proposes and drives solutions that are efficient and scalable. The email engineer job includes adapting when technology changes and being able to pivot to assess new challenges and risks. More than anything else, you know email with the mindset of a business analyst. You solve problems through careful examination and look for ways to scale and use automation. You are curious and hungry to learn new things and look to make a long-lasting impact on our projects. You are a good communicator who works well across departments including marketing, creative, and other engineering teams. Finally, we put a premium on being able to self-start, excellent communication, and with a growth mindset.
Responsibilities:
Ensure prompt delivery of project deliverables.Apply the best practices in email development, email compliance regulations, and accessibility.Familiarity of various email platforms, ESPs, and being able to develop solutions accordingly.Set up, test, and launch complex email campaigns with dynamic content, and ability to troubleshoot HTML, CSS, and other performance issues.Execute email campaigns with a heavy emphasis on customer segmentation, testing protocol, and technical execution.Proactively work with teammates and business partners to improve processes and work methods for greater efficiency.Perform coding and database maintenance tasks as required.Collaborating with colleagues from across Schwab in different support organizations and business groups to resolve issues, and develop technical solutions for best-in-class implementation.Contribute to the continued modernization and evolution of the brand.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or relevant experience.Proficient and recent email development work experience.Apply the best practices in email development, email compliance regulations, and accessibility.Proficient in all aspects of email marketing and systems, including template configuration and management, dynamic content, queries for data extensions, and content builderExperience with JavaScript, Adobe Creative Suite, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, integration with external systems (API), AMPscriptWorking knowledge and understanding of dark mode and Outlook challenges plus the ability to architect across SFMC, Salesforce, and Marketo will make you stand outSalesforce development skills gained through hands on (design, development) experience and understanding of Salesforce platform features.Proficient experience of Salesforce Marketing Cloud and all channel (email, social, SMS) applications within the platform
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a financial industry.Exposure to campaign analytical tools (such as interaction & campaign studio).Familiarity with SFDC to SFMC Cloud connectors.Experience with the Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence).Analyze complex business and systems requirements and provide technical solutions to meet user requirements.Strong foundational understanding of application development concepts and technologies.Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills, coupled with a desire to take on responsibilities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex system issues in business terminology. You are clear and concise both verbally and in writing and can pivot your language depending on the audience whether other tech teams or Marketing stakeholders.Ability to manage high-priority projects with deadlines for deliverables with minimal defects.Confidence in interfacing with business partners at various levels.Detailed oriented and an initiative-taker.
