We are looking for a researcher with a strong track-record in Statistical Genetics or Genetic Epidemiology, to join our Analytical Genomics team at the Regeneron Genetics Center. The role will involve hands on research and development, working across a variety of applications involving large scale genetic variation. This includes exome sequencing, GWAS and analyses of transcriptomics and proteomics datasets. In this role, you will connect genetic variation to human diseases and health outcomes, and then help translate genetic associations into new therapeutic opportunities for both common and rare diseases.
In this role, a typical day might include the following:
Use RGC pipelines to perform GWAS and exome-wide association analyses using multiple cohorts totaling >2 million participants.
Critically review and provide feedback on statistical methods and analyses plans, results and summaries to ensure they are accurate and reliable. Identify potential problems and propose remedies or refinements.
Apply post-GWAS approaches (for example fine mapping, colocalization with other traits, Mendelian randomization) to identify likely effector genes of GWAS signals.
Integrate association results from common variants from GWAS and rare variants from exome sequencing to identify novel gene associations with human diseases and traits.
Perform polygenic risk score analyses.
This job might be for you if you:
Have a strong work ethic and are proactive in providing solutions to foster scientific collaborations and drive projects forward within Regeneron.
Have ability to work in a highly interactive environment with a diverse team of colleagues.
Have outstanding communication skills to summarize and present new statistical methods and concepts and the results of human genetic studies to a variety of technical audiences, ranging from experts in statistical genetics and computation to experts in biology, drug design and medicine.
Are a motivated teammate with a desire to pursue genetic discovery in a multi-disciplinary environment.
To be considered for this role, you must have a PhD in Statistical Genetics, Human Genetics or Genetic Epidemiology, as well as 2-3 years minimum of postdoc experience. A strong track record in these fields is required, evidenced by a strong publication record. Candidates will demonstrate experience using a range of statistical genetics tools, including for association analysis (e.g. PLINK, BOLT-LMM, REGENIE), fine mapping (e.g. FINEMAP, SUSIE), co-localization (e.g. COLOC, eCAVIAR) and Mendelian Randomization (e.g. SMR). Experience supervising students and post-doctoral fellows is highly desired.
