Manager, Sterile Processing

Summary: Manages activities of Central Processing department. Oversees leads/coordinators in Central supply department at RWMC and OLF. Coordinates and maintains accurate inventories of stock and non-stock supplies; ensures appropriate stock levels on sterilized items are maintained; evaluates supplies and processes to provide cost savings and systems efficiency. Monitors inventory from vendors and vendor control for peri- operative services. Ensures the department is following all IFU’s. Assures that the Sterilization policy and procedures are in place in both facilities and followed by all staff.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Understanding of sterilization and high-level disinfection technologies including industry standardized principles and practice in sterilization and disinfection required. Prior experience in instrument processing required. Prior experience as a surgical technologist/procedure technologist preferred. Supervisor or lead experience preferred.
Licensure and/or Certification: Certification in instrument processing required.

+ Ability to correlate clinical information with patient’s care under the direction of the Clinical Leader/Registered Nurse.
+ Ability to set priorities.
+ Ability to provide support and direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency throughout the clinical areas of the facility.
+ Ability to communicate well with patients, families, teammates, other healthcare providers, etc.
+ Recognizes legal and policy limits of individual practice.
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements : General pleasant working environment with little or no distractions or exposure to unpleasant or hazardous elements. Meets all safety training requirements associated with the Surgical Center. Indoors climate-controlled environment. Patient care environment with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, to blood and body fluids which may carry infection, to infectious disease, and to chemical and electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to outdoor climate. Good visual acuity, accurate color vision. Ability to lift/transfer patients, which may require pushing, pulling, and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size, and shape. Ability to speak and hear.
