Located just four blocks from the Gables' iconic Miracle Mile, the hotel is the centerpiece of The Plaza Coral Gables, a 2.1 million square foot mixed-use development showcasing retail space, dining and entertainment experiences.

Loews Coral Gables Hotel is the second Loews Hotel to open in South Florida, joining 25 other properties across the US and Canada that make up the Loews Hotels & Co portfolio.

Directs and coordinates all activities associated with receiving and storeroom operations, ensuring adherence to established receiving, stock rotation, requisition and sanitation and security procedures. Works closely with all Department Heads to maintain a smooth and efficient flow of needed materials.  Selects, trains, schedules, and manages all storeroom personnel, to ensure quality of performance and adherence to Loews Hotels Standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Maintains appropriate staffing levels through effective forecasting, recruiting, selection, hiring and trainingSchedules personnel so as to ensure optimum performance of departmentSupervises receiving and storeroom activities to ensure adherence to accepted procedures, receipt of materials and supplies as specified on purchase order documents and security of all materials placed in storageEnsures accurate, timely completion of computerized receiving reports and transmittal of receiving documentationRecords and reports any receiving related discrepancies, to facilitate request for credit or replacement or damaged or discrepant goodsMaintains organized purchase order and receiving documentation filesEnsures proper dating, pricing, tagging of all food products, materials and supplies placed into storeroomOversees proper storage of materials and supplies received, ensures appropriate refrigeration of perishable items, and proper placement and rotation of stock to prevent loss due to deterioration of product quality while in storageEnsures established requisition procedures are followed for all materials and supplies leaving storeroomEnsures respective prices are indicated on requisitions for all items issuedEnsures proper maintenance of liquor storeroom  perpetual inventoryForwards completed requisitions to respective storeroom clerkMonitors par levels for items in inventory, places requisition in Adaco when levels reach reorder pointMonitors temperatures in refrigerated storage areasEnsures storeroom cleanliness and adherence to all food safety sanitation requirementsSupervises/performs daily, monthly, quarterly annual inventoriesCoordinates receipt, storage and delivery of packages delivered via common carrierEnsures appropriate departments are notified when packages are received for guests, assists with delivery as neededPrepares shipping documents/coordinates pick-up of materials shipped via common carrierInterviews, selects, trains, praises, coaches, counsels and disciplines personnel according to Loews Hotels standardsFollows New Hire Training and ongoing Star Service Competency programDevelops/approves all departmental schedulesEstablishes and ensures adherence to all departmental and Loews Hotels guidelines, policies and proceduresResponsible for the smooth, efficient, cost effective operation of Storeroom/Receiving department to include: labor management, inventory control,Reviews/maintains daily payroll report/records, maintaining labor cost within established budgetary limitsEvaluates individual employee performance, determines areas in need of improvement, or requirements for advancement, establishes goals, objectives and training needs required meAttends required hotel meetings to: keep abreast of in-house activities/promotions and events; maintain communications with other departments throughout the hotel  Conducts daily pre-shift and weekly departmental meetings as required to communicate effectively with all Storeroom/Receiving personnel to ensure that they are kept current with pertinent hotel information and activities

Qualifications

Required:

Thorough knowledge of meat/produce/grocery specifications and standard grading classificationsAbility to operate basic storeroom equipmentAbility to stand, stoop, bend repetitively and lift up to 50 lbs.Working knowledge of computer software to include inventory control, Win95, Word, ExcelEffective management, leadership, organizational and communication skillsAbility to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Three to five years prior supervisory experience in hotel receiving, storeroom management (500+ room multi-outlet convention hotel or centralized distribution hospitality chain operation)
