If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, we have an exciting opportunity in Global Instrumentation & Control (GIC) for a Manager of Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V)
Your Day-to-Day:
· Responsible for leading and managing engineering operations of the organization.
· Coordinates all Testing activities of safety system software and equipment (budgets, proposals, test planning, project execution, etc.) and ensures successful delivery of these items.
· Stay current with Nuclear and IEEE standards for software development and IV&V process standards to ensure compliance and to incorporate efficient incorporation of such standards.
· Supports WEC and GIC (Global Instrumentation and Controls) Transformation Initiatives and other business improvement activities.
· Responsible for Testing labs, equipment/tool assets and associated work areas to ensure full functionality for software testing.
· Responsible for managing a team of 10-20+ engineers in a specific functional or operational area within the Testing discipline to provide engineering service and software analysis, including analysis of complex products. Responsible for the effective operations of the team and ensures standards of quality (including effective management of the corrective action program), cost (including utilization of resources to meet assigned targets), safety (both ensuring a NSCWE as well as personnel and Industrial safety), reliability, timeliness and performance are met in production processes.
· Responsible for personnel development and management, in close cooperation with the technical leader(s) in the team.
· Typically manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments.
· Provide leadership and flawless execution throughout the execution of strategic changes or consolidation, as approved by Westinghouse leadership.
· Responsibilities include policy and strategy implementation for short-term and long-term results in the specific area of assignment.
· Solve or mitigate issues which can be difficult to moderately complex.
· Influence others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices, and procedures. Demonstrate sound contract knowledge, using approved commercial processes.
· Manage work to terms, scope; tracks progress and models a questioning attitude.
· The individual should have good communication skills and an overall understanding of the financial forecasting models.
Who You Are: As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team: • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical or Software Engineering or a related technical discipline required.
• Minimum 8 years of strong and progressively more responsible leadership experience required. • Experience managing engineering teams is preferred. Experience in software development and software testing and IV&V is preferred. • Experience with negotiations, persuasion, listening, and people development skills is essential. • Ability to engage customers to promote group products and services. • Effective oral and written communication with internal and external customers and engineering groups. • Solid understanding of highly technical products and systems. • Ability to gather and analyze input, evaluate alternatives, and make effective decisions. • Excellent team building skills with ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Solid working knowledge of nuclear I&C products and projects. • Broad understanding of WEC and GOS (Global Operations Services) business and strategic initiatives and transformational goals. • Comprehensive understanding of Nuclear Industry Quality and Regulatory requirements. • Understand business and financial management processes including balance sheet and cash flow management. • Must have high degree of process orientation and experience in applying process improvement to workflow optimization. • Must have planning/logistic and project management experience; be familiar with manufacturing facilities operational needs and regulatory issues.
