The Manger of Digital Products is responsible for taking early-stage technology and groom it to a viable prototype at a mid-Technology readiness level (TRL) for handover to a production development team for integration with the enterprise or to discard them due to technology or business readiness. The position will be responsible to formulate appropriate technology for the application, prototype individual software, identify hardware & integrated technologies and build integrated systems to demonstrate business value.
Successful prototypes will be ready to be implemented in a full-scale enterprise environment with pre-aligned development effort. In addition to leading a small cross-functional and agile team, this position will also be responsible for managing and prioritizing a pipeline of ideas / concepts that come in from the worldwide ABS staff, fundamental research from Technology, business development teams, and forward-looking needs from management. The position will be responsible for building and managing an innovation ecosystem, supporting marketing and communications for program/prototype launch, increasing brand awareness, identifying the right talent and internal / client / vendor relationship management.
This position will include typical communications, administrative, and financial management duties as well as providing support and coordination for program delivery and periodic innovation events. This position will regularly be required to resolve tactical and strategic problems independently, manage complex logistics for a variety of stakeholders, and to complete assigned activities effectively. This position will be responsible to build and lead a roughly 6-person team.
What You Will Do:
Manage and build-out a series of prototypes based on ideas / concepts approved by ABS Digital Product Steering committee based on the lean principles of rapid hypothesis validation using Minimum Viable Products. Sets, monitors, and tracks metrics, trends, data, usage, competitors, and market/business conditions; recommends and executes on approaches to improve effectiveness of ABS digital channels, campaigns, and alignment with innovation program goals. Identifies gaps in ABS digital product portfolio to identify needs and validates those ideas with the business teams. Build, support and maintain required platforms and databases for tracking progress and improving team collaboration, effectiveness, and efficiency Supports content development for driving innovation thought leadership including articles, creative briefs, presentations, talking points, Q&As and white papers as appropriate. Understand business process, ABS vision and technology trends to develop a portfolio of innovative solutions with diversified process and technical risk. Coordinates internal resources and innovation ecosystem stakeholders for program execution and certification / approval of associated products. Collaborates with the HR Business Partner for the recruitment of a new cohort, creation of collateral, promotion of the innovation team events and success stories. Leads development of marketing plans, including plan objectives, strategy, messaging, tactics, budgets, and executive communication for new products delivered through the innovation program. Engages internal teams by planning and execution of periodic innovation events such as hackathons, demo days, webinars, and technical symposiums. Assists in the Innovation program planning and management of day-to-day operations including monitoring of program activities, project deadlines, scheduled activities or other issues requiring timely action/response and ensures follow through. Education and Experience
10+ years of experience preferred. BS/BA degree recognized equivalent in Engineering is required. Master’s or Ph.D. in industry/technologies are preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Practical experience and knowledge in classification, marine & offshore industry/technologies, and client relationships. Advanced knowledge and skills in the use of MS Office applications and a high level of familiarity with web-based services. Ability to learn additional applications as required. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to organize, manage and motivate personnel. Be able to assume a high level of individual responsibility. Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management System.Reporting Relationships:
May report to a director or executive level position.
