Manager, Transportation

We are looking for someone with a passion for Operations Leadership for a position in our Vancouver Flight Kitchen. If you have strong leadership skills and labour planning experience, this is an opportunity to take your career to the next level.  Reporting to the General Manager, the Transportation Manager oversees the operations of our Transportation Team which is comprised of over 100 Drivers that work in an extremely time sensitive industry. You will be working with the team to ensure our goals around safety, security, on-time performance, and efficiency are met.  We are a 24hr/day, 7 days per week operation. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for safety, security, quality, and compliance with airline customer & regulatory requirements as well as company policies and proceduresConducts audits to validate above complianceDevelops, recommends and implements short- and long-term goals for the Transportation DepartmentActively engage with Supervisors, Team Leads and front-line employees to drive performance, development & retention and create a team culture within the departmentActively works with leadership on process improvements that will benefit the organizationOversees or is personally involved in interviewing, and hiring new employees, performance management, directing the training and development of staff and carrying out corrective actionEnsures employees new to job or department receive adequate training including operational procedures, health and safety requirements and Company rules and regulationsEnsures employees are managed within the collective agreementActively Manages labour throughout entire cycle (forecast, plan, execution, follow-up and reporting including vacation scheduling) to ensure operational needs are met and budgets are met or exceededFulfills all duties related to Health and Safety including taking an active leadership role in H&S committeeDevelops action plans to reduce accidents and days lost. (W.C.B.)Supports modified work plans as necessary, communicates plan to supervisors and ensures adherence by both employee and supervisorsEnsures all Food Safety related SOPs are followedInvestigates and resolves any service deficiency’s and or accidents/incidents involving the Transportation Department and reports out as appropriate in a timely mannerEnsures all employee time punch details are accurate and submitted to payroll on a timely basisResponsible to ensure the fleet is maintained to company standards within budget, including regular interior and exterior cleaning

Education:

Professional qualifications in operations / logistics an asset

Work Experience:

Must have a minimum of 5 years of Operations Management experience in a fast-paced environmentAdvanced labour planning experience an assetPrevious experience in a highly regulated environment an assetPrevious experience managing a large commercial fleet an asset

Job Skills:

Must have proven strong and effective leadership skillsSuperior analytical & problem-solving skillsSolid PC skills including MS Excel

Communication Skills:

Excellent communication skills, both written & oral
