Manager, Utility & Government RebatesAs part of Ferguson’s Environmental Product Sales team, the Manager of Utility & Government Rebates will develop and implement strategy to promote the sale of sustainable products through government and utility sponsored rebate programs, striving to deliver a best-in-class contractor customer experience! You will engage with partners within the incentive and rebate (I&R) ecosystem such as implementers, utilities, state energy offices and vendors to influence program design.
In this role you will also be responsible for educating both associates and customers about rebate programs in market to help property owners offset project costs. Internally, you will work with departments like Operations, Marketing, and Merchandising to streamline processes for utility-sponsored midstream rebates and/or participate in direct install programs.
This position reports to the Director of Environmental Product SalesThis role is approved to be either Remote within the United States or Hybrid in Newport News, VA in accordance with company policy. This is a national role and travel will be required.Job duties:Develop and implement an enterprise incentive & rebate strategy for national, local (midstream) rebate programs inclusive of state and federal funds in market to maximize Ferguson participation.Responsible for the development, implementation, and tracking of I&R program important metrics i.e., providing reporting and analysis on program activity, sales trending and projections and rebate status.Tracks relevant regulatory policy/mandates in flight that could impact I&R funding. Works to grow and maintain deep subject matter expertise of I&R programs via local, state and federal funding for high efficiency products.Supports the work to standardize operational processes to streamline I&R participation.Coordinate with utilities, government agencies and internal Ferguson functional departments to ensure alignment on rebate reimbursement and allocation process to ensure maximum credit is received.Owns relationships with I&R partner eco-system (Utility, Implementer, & State Energy Office (SEO), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR, the Department of Energy (DOE) and strategic suppliers (OEMs) to develop and negotiate rebate program design and identify new revenue opportunities i.e., direct install programs.Identifies operational & sales data transmission process gaps relevant to qualifying I&R product & sales data.Leads and supports implementation of strategic I&R programs across Customer Groups (CGs) in collaboration with local sales and centralized I&R operations support team.Oversees the development of key projects involving incentives, rebates or local, state, federal (IRA) funding and is accountable for the successful closure of business deals.Develop and implement associate and contractor customer rebate training to grow I&R sales opportunities i.e., contractor value proposition to participate and what information is needed at the point of sale to ensure a seamless reimbursement process.Collaborates with Legal to ensure adherence to Personal Identifiable Information (PII)Collaborates with Communications to develop a communications plan to ensure relevant sales associate awareness and visibility of I&R offering.Provides direction and collaborates with the Marketing & Merchandising teams to develop promotional materials that highlight rebate programs and qualifying products, both in-store and online (Ferguson.com, Build.com, and other pertinent Ferguson subsidiary websites) This includes creating targeted email campaigns, in-store merchandising tags, digital signage, fliers, and more.Establish & maintain a communication cadence with defined I&R partners across functions and relevant District leaders.Preferred Qualifications and requirementsPrevious experience and knowledge of incentive and rebate / local, state, and federal funding relative to high-efficiency products and solutions5+ years of Business Development Management experience is necessary.A strong sales background working with HVAC, Plumbing (residential & commercial), MRO customer segments preferred.Prior internal field/HQ experience, a minimum of 5 years with Ferguson preferred.Problem solving, leadership and listening skills.Product and vendor knowledge at a high level would be a strong benefit – Plumbing & HVAC mechanical systems, and Appliances specifically.Strong analytical skills.Critical thinking skills.A competitive drive; self-starter.Requires effective influencing skills that enable and facilitate cross-functional decision making.Valid driver’s license required, approx. 25% travel required.Ability to organize and prioritize work, ability to manage multiple streams of work.Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.Ability to effectively work with technology and operate computers, tablets, and mobile devices.Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).At Ferguson, we care for each other.
