Job Summary:
The Manager, Integrated BHS is responsible for coordinating and personally completing behavioral health screenings and evaluations and providing brief to intermediate term treatment and referral services within the hospital’s ambulatory care settings. A top priority for this position is increasing engagement in behavioral health treatment among individuals who may have unidentified problems and/or who resist referral for behavioral health treatment. This professional will be an important member of the treatment team in the practice setting and will act as liaison to the hospital’s inpatient, outpatient, and emergency psychiatric services.
Responsibilities:
Completes and/or coordinates the screening of patients referred by practice care providers for behavioral health complaints using evidence based scales and inventories, clinical interviews, and record review or makes arrangements for other behavioral health staff to do so. Offers information and support to patients being referred for behavioral health screening and/or treatment. Provides short to intermediate term, problem focused interventions and coordinates referrals, Refers for , for longer term or more specialized care, if appropriate. With patient consent, facilitates communication with the hospital’s inpatient, outpatient, and emergency psychiatric services and with outside providers and agencies. Provides clinical consultations to providers regarding patients who may need behavioral health screening and/or referral. Documents all patient services in the hospital EMR. Actively participates in case conferences and team meetings. Educates clinical team on recognizing signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use disorder and the use of appropriate screening methods. Maintains complete, accurate, and up-to-date information concerning community based behavioral health programs and related resources. Prepares administrative and statistical reports concerning patients and services. May supervise students in fieldwork placement from master’s level behavioral health graduate programs, if applicable Communicates orally and in writing in both the Spanish and English languages Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
5 years experience providing professional behavioral health assessment and treatment services and at least 2 years experience in a supervisory or management role.
Education:
Masters level or higher degree in a behavioral health profession.
Licenses / Certifications:
Licensed in New York State as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or as a Licensed Psychologist.
Other:
Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with patients, family members, medical providers and other colleagues, and the general public and to work in a treatment team environment. Familiarity with medical office practices, procedures, and terminology. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to produce presentation quality spreadsheets, graphs, and charts. The basic work schedule is 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, which is consistent with WMC Outpatient Behavioral Health operations. Days and hours may change on an interim basis for clinical/programmatic needs. Special Requirements: Fluent Bilingual Spanish and English speaking and writing , highly preferred
