Identify the research development needs of staff and design tailored training programs or initiatives. Organise workshops, seminars, and writing retreats Coordinate with external experts, organisations, or consultants to provide specialised training Continuous monitoring and evaluation of developmental programmes and initiative Plan long-term and short-term strategic Skills Development objectives

2. Mentorship and Partnership Programme:

Career and transformation-focused programmes and initiatives Create and establish partnerships and collaboration aligned with CPUT Vision 2030 Identify and disseminate funding, award, and advancement programmes Promote and support transdisciplinary research focused on the CPUT Vision 203

3. Promoting the Responsible Conduct of Research:

Promoting responsible conduct of research via comprehensive training initiatives, policy and compliance Manage research ethics misconduct investigations. Development and training of Faculty Research Committee members

4. Policy and Resource Management  

Develop and implement policies and best practices for staff development within the Directorate Research Development Manage budgets for staff development programs, training, and related activities (e.g. UCDG programme). Ensure compliance with institutional, regulatory, and funding agency policies related to staff training and development.

5. Communication, Performance management and Reporting        

Prepare regular reports on development activities, staff progress, and the impact of initiatives for senior leadership and stakeholders. Serve as the point of contact for staff inquiries regarding career growth, training opportunities, and development resources. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices relevant to research staff development. Evaluate the effectiveness of development programs through feedback, surveys, and performance metrics. Adapt strategies based on feedback and changing organisational needs. Database development and maintenance
