Manager – External Warehouse

At Lilly in Germany, we are currently planning and building a high-tech production facility in Alzey (Rhineland-Palatinate), which will expand our production of injectable drugs from 2027 and employ up to 1,000 specialists. To make the most of our innovative production site, we are looking for motivated reinforcements who, together with us, will ensure the supply of Lilly medicines in Germany, Europe, and worldwide, in line with the three Lilly values of "Excellence," "Integrity," and "Respect for People."

Manager – External Warehouse (m/w/d)

What tasks await you?

As the Manager - External Warehouse, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating activities with our external warehouse partners. Your responsibilities will include managing material movements, leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material flow within the building, managing deviations, conducting training sessions, and implementing change control processes.

You will ensure that all processes are managed safely and in compliance with site and global procedures. During the project and site construction phase, you will be responsible for selecting a third-party logistics (3PL) provider to support storage needs related to site commissioning and qualification activities. Additionally, you will collaborate with Global Logistics to select a 3PL provider for long-term site needs

Key deliverables of the role include:

You will lead all activities related to external warehouse and shuttle providers.You will communicate with shuttle carriers to schedule truck deliveries from external warehouse locations.You will coordinate with internal teams to identify materials needed for production and communicate these needs to external warehouse providers in a timely manner.You will participate in the development and deployment of strategies associated with continuous improvement, corrective and preventative actions, Six Sigma, and lean methodologies.You will ensure that all safety practices, policies, and rules are followed and enforced.You will partner with the 3PL to ensure compliant GMP procedures are utilized to support site operations, understanding GMP regulations, and providing expertise in warehouse and logistics operations.

How do you convince us?

You have a Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Management, or a related field.You bring 7+ years of experience in warehouse and logistics management, with a preference for those who have worked in GMP environments.You possess expertise in SAP and Electronic Warehouse Management (EWM) systems to ensure efficient and compliant operations.You have experience in materials management, logistics, warehousing, and distribution.You have a background in manufacturing operations and/or manufacturing support functions.You possess strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.You have a keen interest in pursuing a career in operations or supply chain leadership.You have good German and English skills.You are willing to work at the Alzey site
