Summary You will serve as a MANAGER in the Platforms and Payload Integration Department, Code 45B of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-6 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-14 and GS-15 grade levels. Responsibilities You will serve as the Deputy Department Head representing the department on all matters related to business operations, contracts, financial health, work year estimates, business metrics, facilities, and administrative matters. You will also serve in a supervisory capacity of the department’s staff as called upon by the Department Head and is expected to support the Department’s implementation of its strategic goals and broad area actions, as assigned. You will have managerial and decision-making authority for programs/functions having broad impact within the activity, Navy, and the Department of Defense. You will represent the department with other NUWCDIVNPT organizations regarding these matters. You will serve as a senior expert on the Division's mission and the required application of business resources to achieve the Division goals. You will work closely with other supervisors and managers outside the unit to further activity and agency programs. You will be a prime contact with NUWCDIVNPT operations under management responsibility and provides information and advice to higher level managers when the work of the unit impacts other groups. You will manage and lead a diverse team in a manner that fosters teamwork within and outside of the division, which includes the ability to manage people and conflicts (EEO factor), administer NUWC, NAVSEA and Navy policies. You will manage special assignments that require Department level authority and represents the Department within NUWCDIVNPT and outside organizations, and oversees special projects and programs as assigned by command management. You will exercise line management responsibility for the Department Staff (Code 45B). You will evaluate the work of subordinate supervisors and staff personnel, approves internal and external awards nominations and promotions; resolves employee complaints, and hears serious problems including where disciplinary action is proposed. You will require knowledge of business and management processes involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and work force shaping. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-05 (GS-13/14) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical leadership to coordinate business or administrative operations in the planning of repair, maintenance, or sustainment of facilities or equipment for minimal impacts on departments mission.
