Northrop Grumman’s Space sector is looking for a motivated & accountable Manager Aeronautical Engineering 1 - Electronics Packaging to provide technical and managerial leadership to a team of Mechanical Engineers working in Avionics design, test, and analysis.at our Chandler, AZ facility.

Essential Functions:

Lead a team of Mechanical Engineers and CAD designers in design, test, and production support of Avionics used on launch vehicles.Prioritize and assign tasks to a team of Mechanical EngineersManage technical, schedule, cost and resources across multiple ProgramsIdentify and address Program risks to ensure launch successMentor staff in electronics packaging design and problem solvingLeverage heritage designs and concepts where appropriateProvide technical monitoring and oversight via formal and informal reviewsRecruit engineering talent to fill present and future program staffing needsReview and/or generate technical content for proposals and studiesMay perform ongoing operational tasks in addition to supervisor/managerial tasksSupport the administrative functions of the Electronics Packaging Group and the Mechanical Engineering Department (including but not limited to time card approvals, quarterly and annual reviews of staff, overhead budgeting, annual salary reviews and planning, capital expenditure planning, weekly status reports, staff meetings)

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 1 year of experienceAbility to obtain a US DoD Secret security clearanceExperience with mechanical analysis, design, and testExperience with basic dynamic/thermal environments test and analysis, basic structural analysis, bolted joint analysis, tolerance analysisKnowledge of GD&T CAD standards and practicesExperience working in a multi-disciplinary team on a design project


Preferred Qualifications:

Active US DoD Secret security clearance, or higherExperience in avionics anomaly investigationsExperience presenting to upper managementExperience with Packaging specific analyses like Steinberg analysis, solder joint fatigue analysis, venting analysis, keepout analysisExperience with Nuclear Hardness and Susceptibility design requirementsExperience working with Range and government customersExperience managing a team of engineers

Salary Range: $112,200.00 - $168,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
