Job Description Leads the category management team by defining a strategic approach to procurement, where the organization segments its spending on bought-in goods and services. The segmentation arranges goods and services in discrete groups depending on the functions of these goods and services.1. Owns the Sourcing Strategy for leverage, bottleneck, and routine
categories, works with Business Partner who owns the sourcing strategy
for Strategic categories to ensure that identified sourcing strategies are
aligned to business objectives/requirements;
- Gathers Business Needs with proponent/cross functional partner
(Short and long term volume projections in business and potential
opportunities)
- Penetrates and aligns business & operational needs
- Identifies linkages and leverages multiple suppliers, materials, supply
chains, and business units
- Business/Technical Liaison/Partner; sits on projects/business teams
2. Overall responsible for the successful planning, execution, monitoring,
control and closure of the strategic sourcing project/initiatives
3. The project manager of the adhoc team created to identify and
implement sourcing strategies supported by the sourcing support
services and supplier relationship support units , and Proponents
- Leads the RFP as the Project Manager in the execution of the
approved strategy
- Ensures approved strategy is executed based on committed timelines
- Conducts should cost and TCO analysis as input to sourcing
evaluation
4. Business/Technical Liaison/Partner; sits on projects/business teams
5. Bring innovation/new ideas to business/technical teams from
category/industry/supplier analysis reports
- Provides Industry/Market intelligence
- Builds Category Analysis
- Conducts Spend Analysis and benchmarking
- Analyzes results of Industry & Supplier Analysis provided by Supplier
Relationship Support
6. Works with the Sourcing Support team to Develop RFP for Strategic sourcing
initiatives
- Works collaboratively across joint sourcing strategy leaders and
organizations
- Brings category & functional knowledge
- Works with proponent and Sourcing Support Team on RFP development
- Get approval from Strategy owner
7. Owns the supplier relationship management process and works with the
Supplier Relationship Support Unit
- Continue to monitor effectiveness of strategy results vs. targets
- Reports regularly to Strategy owner and Management on results of
strategy vs targets
- Co‐owns Supplier Relationship Management with Strategy owner
- Provide inputs to Supplier Relationship Support during supplier
performance evaluation
- Establishes goals, milestones, and performance metrics for suppliers
8. Builds appropriate supplier collaborative relationships in conjunction with
proponents
