Job Description

Oversees the administration and maintenance of the Central Utility Plant (CUP), equipment, and both the generation of all utilities and their distribution systems. To include HVAC operations, utilities generation and distribution, engineering & project commissioning, campus preventive maintenance programs, procurement and monitoring, energy conservation programs, code compliance, and project engineering.

Experience

10 years of experience in hospital or critical management 5 years of supervisory/management experience in work involving the operation, maintenance and emergency repair of power generation, boiler, chilled water plants and auxiliary equipment.Experience in supervising different levels of personnel and developing good customer service relationships

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, and 5 years of supervisory experience in work involving the operation, maintenance and emergency repair of power generation, boiler, chilled water plants and auxiliary equipmentProficient in two or more of the major fields of specialization, including maintenance, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and heating/ventilation/air conditioning

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering

Job Responsibilities

Supervises CUP operating engineers and mechanics including interviewing, hiring, scheduling, assigning work to and training. Plan and supervise work involved in the operation, maintenance, and minor repair of varied types of equipment.Participates in the development of policies, standards, and procedures. Communicates policies, standards and procedures to direct reports and ensures their compliance utilizing proper tools and safety procedures.Participates in designing and evaluating plant utility distribution systems and ancillary equipment.Implements engineering studies on CUP systems, utilities, identifies and defines project improvements, system upgrades, operational changes, and capital improvement projects.Provide updates to leadership regarding major capital projects and improvements. Manages capital for engineering / operational projects.Supports mission critical infrastructure and utilities. Support engineering preventative maintenance program ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies. Assist with negotiations of service contracts with vendors/contractors.                                                                                                                                             Manages utilities budget and energy management systems for maximum efficiency.
