Manager - Cloud Platform Engineering

This role will serve as leader for the Cloud Platform Engineering team.  Working closely with the Director of Enterprise Architecture, IT Application Delivery Leaders, and Operations Leaders, this role will lead the development and execution of Old Dominion’s strategy for supporting cloud-native platform capabilities.

This position is part of a team that is responsible for enabling significant organizational and technological change by providing a foundation for continuous integration, and delivery, of business capabilities with the goal of continuously improving Old Dominion’s ability to exceed our customer’s expectations.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and manage the IT Cloud Platform Engineering teamAct as a strategic solution advisor in collaboration with the IT Enterprise Architecture teamLead programs to develop, maintain, and govern Continuous Integration and Delivery capabilities across the enterpriseContinuous Integration and Delivery through a Source-To-Image strategyApplication resiliency, high availability, and securityApplication elasticity and scalabilityApplication management, monitoring, and alertingAutomation of Cloud Infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and scalingDevelop, socialize, and communicate IT Cloud platform standards.Participate in the Architecture / Design Review Board processesDirect the selection of appropriate technologies and patterns for the implementation of application hosting capabilitiesResearch and evaluate emerging technology, industry and market trendsParticipate in producing the business case for leveraging emerging technology delivery processes and solutionsOversee the creation of reference models for, and the adoption of, emerging technologiesOversee the creation of reference models for, and the adoption of, emerging implementation patternsContinuously develop new skills in order to stay current with the changing IT and Business landscapeCoach and mentor cloud platform engineers in the principles and practice of a DevOps culture

Job Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT engineeringExperience leading and managing a DevOps product or Engineering teamDirect experience in the architecture, engineering, and operation of PaaS and IaaS solutionsExperience with data management, architecture patterns, and large-scale application platformsExperience with distributed computing environmentsExperience in Network engineeringExperience with CI/CD and Infrastructure Automation patternsExperience in the architecture, engineering, and operation of containerization and virtualization technologiesExperience with Application-to-Application integrationAptitude for, desire to, and experience in managing and mentoring cloud developers and engineers Exceptional partnering and communication skillsAbility to work independently and self-pace work to meet required deadlines

Compensation Range:

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level. 

($139,078-$173,826)
