How will you make an impact in this role?
As a Line of Business Compliance Officer (LOBCO), this role is responsible for providing second line of defense monitoring and oversight of the global Network & Acquirer Solutions (NAS) organization, specifically related to Network, Enterprise Payments, and Policy risks and initiatives. Responsibilities include employing a risk-based approach to ongoing monitoring that ensures the business has appropriate processes and controls in place to mitigate regulatory risk and ongoing compliance with internal policies and standards. This includes oversight of the Compliance Risk Management Program (e.g., Strategic Compliance Plan, Compliance Risk Assessment, Business Unit Compliance Assessment, Issue Management, Monitoring/Testing) and reporting progress against Program deliverables.
Responsibilities:
Oversee business unit adherence to American Express policies and global Network regulatory requirements. Liaise and report on the business’ activities related to Strategic Compliance Plan goal tracking, remediation, and closure. Engage on global Regulatory Change Management (RCM) Compliance activities including the analysis of new/changing legal mandates/requirements, performance of applicability assessment, and monitor the business’ remediation project efforts. Support the global Compliance Risk Assessment process (e.g., legal mandate/requirement applicability assessment, control validation, action item monitoring) across multiple Process Risk Self-Assessments (PRSAs). Support the Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) Business Unit Compliance Assessment (BUCA) process (e.g., validate metric results, develop relevant commentary, assess rating appropriateness) on a quarterly basis. Manage the global Issue Management Compliance-related activities (e.g., evaluate risk events to determine Compliance impact, monitor NAS milestone progress and tracking for closure of gaps and remediation). Monitor the business’ Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, and Anti-Corruption due diligence for prospective and existing NAS ATM Partners globally and provide independent Compliance validation of diligence activities. Provide independent, trusted advisor consultation on proposed changes and exception requests to the Business and Operational Policies (BOP). Lead New or Modified Product Governance (NPG) Compliance-related activities (e.g., review GCO requirements mapping, assess control effectiveness, identify stipulation/action item identification, New Product Compliance Risk Assessment) related to new products and capabilities offered to Network participants. Liaise as required with relevant stakeholders including but not limited to: Internal Audit, External Regulators, Independent Compliance Testing, General Counsel, Control Management, Global Financial Crimes Compliance, and Privacy. Execute multiple projects, act independently and be involved in Compliance-related decision-making during interactions with NAS colleagues.Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 3+ years of experience in Compliance, Control Management, Internal Audit or related activities, preferable with Network and Payments expertise. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to Network Payment Systems and specifically Financial Crimes requirements (e.g., Sanctions, Anti-Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering) within the financial services industry. In-depth knowledge and understanding of compliance risk management practices and methodologies, including risk assessment and control assessments. Ability to identify and understand key risks, issues and trends, and to develop meaningful information to be shared with leadership. Ability to lead, mentor and influence peers and business colleagues. Strong relationship and leadership skills, with proven ability to motivate colleagues, communicate, and collaborate effectively across a large organization. Professional maturity and confidence in expressing a point of view with management at various levels. Excellent interpersonal skills to successfully interact, persuade and influence a broad spectrum of constituents at all levels, including senior leadership. The ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a highly deadline-intensive environment is required. Experience in driving results in changing and ambiguous situations, meeting deadlines and delivering on expectations.Preferred Qualifications
