How will you make an impact in this role?
Global Treasury Controllership (GTC) is seeking a Manager, Controller. This role will support the Director in ensuring effective and efficient management, by establishing robust control environment, of the end-to-end accounting, SEC/trustee/management reporting, and cash needs for two credit card securitization trusts (managing ~$30B in assets) and four securitization-related legal entities.
The Manager of Asset-backed Securitization (“ABS”) is a key position within Global Treasury Controllership. ABS provides one of the primary funding sources for American Express. American Express periodically securitizes Card Member receivables and loans arising from its card business through the transfer of those assets to securitization trusts. The trusts then issue securities to third-party investors, collateralized by the transferred assets.
In addition to leading the day-to-day responsibilities of the team, the individual is also required to demonstrate a strategic, transformational mindset, and will be expected to drive improvements to yield material process efficiencies and analytical insights to business partners. The role is the primary point of contact for the ABS Controllership team, and has significant engagement with internal Treasury, American Express National Bank, Global Counsel Organization, and Technology leaders, along with external trustee, external counsel, vendors, and PwC’s trust audit team.
Detailed Responsibilities include:
Ensure strong operational control environment including PRSAs/ BCP / Documentation and Record Retention. Support all Regulatory Reporting, Filing and compliance requirements for the Trusts. Responsible for ensuring adherence to SEC guidelines and Reg AB stipulations. Manage the relationship with PWC and External Counsel in support of securitization activity. Be a trusted partner to Treasury and Legal Team, providing support and consultancy in all ABS related deals and activities. Develop a strong team with the expertise to support ABS and guide managers and analysts to reach their goals and career aspirations. Strong Collaboration with both internal and external partners to deliver against the evolving needs of American Express. Drive Transformation through both Technology and Process – develop a roadmap for the team that delivers against key strategic objectives. Support the ABS Controllership team delivering all daily, monthly, quarterly ABS related processes, including daily settlement activity and the monthly servicer reporting.Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years’ experience in accounting, reporting and financial analysis. Public accounting experience a plus. Strong understanding of Risk and Control Environment. Qualified accountant holding a CA, CPA or related degree. Strong technical accounting background (ASC 810) and experience in accounting, reporting & analysis, including understanding of compliance requirements. Solid understanding of US GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements. (10-K, 10-Q, Reg. AB, Reg. W, etc.) Must be a self-starter with ability to drive change and deliver results on multiple time sensitive projects. Excellent communication & presentation skills to interact effectively with key stakeholders; ability to work across geographies in a matrix structure and deliver on customer expectations.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Power BI, Tableau and/or SQL highly preferred. Exposure in project management and systems deployment is preferred.Non-considerations for sponsorship:

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
