**Manager Corporate Coding** **Location:** Larkin Bldg @ Exchange Street Location of Job: US:NY:Buffalo Work Type: Full-Time **Shift:** Shift 1 Job Description **Summary:** This position designs, implements, and maintains coding quality/productivity monitoring, health information management compliance, and education of hospital staff involved with coding and data abstracting. The Manager assures the quality of service by maintaining current knowledge of coding and DRG grouping, quality initiatives, data collection and reporting, and federal compliance requirements and effectively communicating this information to departmental staff and other affected hospital departments. Includes but not limited to coding associates, physicians, HIM managers, care management, documentation specialists, quality and patient safety, patient accounts, finance, corporate compliance and ancillary departments to ensure that coding across the system is consistent, accurate and meets data integrity for use in billing, reimbursement, clinical outcomes and SPARCS reporting. The Manager assists with management of the computer systems used for data collection and coding and provides data analysis and statistical reporting. Monitors Medicare and other DRG paid bulletins and manuals, and reviews the current Office of the Inspector General (OIG) work plans for DRG risk areas. Identify patterns, trends and variations in the facility's frequently assigned DRG groups; investigates and evaluates potential causes for changes or problems; takes appropriate steps in collaboration with the right staff to effect resolution or explain variances. Monitors unbilled account reports for outstanding services or un-coded discharges to reduce accounts receivable days for inpatients and/or outpatients; performs periodic claim form reviews to check code transfer accuracy from the abstracting software and the charge master. Collects and prepares data for studies involving inpatient stays and outpatient encounters for clinical evaluation purposes; prepares and maintains a variety of complex records and reports. Provides coding leadership and administrative guidance to the HIM Coding & DRG denial department. **Education And Credentials** **Responsibilities:** AAS - Associate of Applied Science Health Information Management required. BS - Bachelor of Science Health Information Management preferred.
