Given the dynamic nature of the global payments industry and the valued partnership between our team and the business, we see it as imperative to attract and develop talented people by: + Providing rich work experiences and opportunities for professional development + Recognizing and rewarding those who drive and deliver results + Respecting and valuing diversity, integrity, and personal accountability **How will you make an impact in this role?** As a member of the Digital Platforms and Internet Law (DPSLRM) group within the Global Enterprise Services Practice Group of the General Counsel’s Organization of American Express, this position will involve interfacing with clients and colleagues in the US and across the globe on various cutting-edge, digital law issues. This position will report to a Director and Counsel and is based in New York City. Help propel your team and its business partners to success. Here’s just some of what you’ll do in this role: + Provide legal advice and counsel to the Company’s teams that support open banking enterprise strategy, open banking product development and manage open banking partnerships and portfolios. + Support and help manage the effective implementation of new Section 1033 Consumer Financial Data Right requirements across the US Enterprise. + Negotiate, draft and review third party and data aggregator data access agreements and support client API issues and communications. + Create, maintain and optimize templates, resources and internal processes in the open banking and digital law space. + Review and advise on customer access and revoke UX and customer-facing experiences. + Partner with Government Affairs teams to monitor and track legal and regulatory developments across the open banking ecosystem. + Provide legal advice and counsel on a wide range of other digital law topics and policy issues to the Company’s teams that create and operate the Company’s mobile app, website, e-communication channels, API developer’s portal and other digital platforms. + Review and advise on digital UX and customer-facing experience and marketing campaigns. + Legal research and special projects. **Qualifications** Are you ready for the challenge? Minimum Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree and JD + Qualified to practice law in the United States; admission to the New York Bar in good standing or eligibility to do so is preferred + 2 years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal environment Preferred Qualifications: + Strong interest in and/or experience with digital products and services, digital experiences and emerging technology. + Experience advising on Section 1033 Open Banking matters or related service, a “labs” or innovative team, a Fintech, digital bank, or a customer-facing (UX) digital experience team. + Experience with any of the following: ESIGN Act, electronic signatures, electronic communication laws (like CAN SPAM, TCPA), API or data licensing arrangements, digital identity, web 3.0, artificial intelligence and chat bots, digital accessibility for the disabled, open finance, e-commerce or other internet law related matters. + Experience drafting and maintaining customer-facing digital terms, conditions and disclosures. + Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. + Ability to gain credibility, manage expectations, and develop strong working relationships with GCO colleagues and business clients; convey clear advice to clients. + Strong process-management skills and ability to help identify and implement improvements in work process to enhance efficiency and productivity. + High energy, team-oriented, self-starter, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. + Strong work ethic and personal accountability. + Demonstrates a self-motivated, proactive, creative, and solutions-oriented growth mindset and “can do” attitude. + Ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing and challenging projects in an Agile and deadline-intensive environment. + Ability to work well in a fast-moving, cross-functional team settings. + Ability to understand the details of how the Company operates and the internal and external environment in which it does so. + Willingness and flexibility to take on new responsibilities and challenges as American Express and its businesses continue to evolve. **Qualifications** Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
