SUMMARY: This position will support the implementation of Asset Management processes through asset registration, regulatory inspections, and work management through mobile technologies and applications. This position will provide Engineering-specific expertise and business continuity acting as a liaison to MTAIT. This position will integrate with MTA-IT personnel related to scheduling and management of Engineering’s mobile device registry and will provide advanced in-person training and technical support to field crews on mobile applications including various modules within Hexagon, GIS, Optram, ESRI, Microsoft products specific to the Engineering Department. The primary function of this position will be to provide mobile support for Engineering operations applications up to and including Hexagon, GIS, Optram, and ESRI. The position will serve as liaison with MTA IT setting up new users as well as on ordering and distributing mobile devices in a timely manner. This position will be the central point of contact between the Engineering Department and MTA-IT regarding support for technical issues surrounding new, broken, and lost mobile devices. This position will facilitate organizational changes for the conversion of paper reporting to electronic and ensure the timely support of any field crew regardless of location. The manager will support Enterprise Asset Management with documented work processes and other applications. This position will also support Configuration Management (CM) for Positive Train Control. This includes integrating CM into all existing and future key processes, including identification of all serialized hardware and software on PTC Hardware Software and Firmware so that the CM Plan’s effectiveness can be monitored, assessed, improved when required and routinely reported on. The position will also provide field support in software (Hexagon, GIS, Optram, ESRI, etc.) and hardware support to all Engineering disciplines throughout the LIRR. RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: + Act as a liaison with MTA-IT to manage the deployment of mobile devices to the Engineering Department field crews and coordinate the implementation and deployment of Engineering specific Mobile Applications. Coordinate with MTA IT to procure devices, request backups, and mobile updates to ensure business continuity. + Track and log information regarding broken or lost devices. + Provide Engineering specific advanced in-person Asset Management mobile application field training, go-live rollouts, logistics and coordination across the LIRR network in conjunction with MTA IT. + Responsible for training field forces and management on mobile device use and application software. Develop methodologies for teaching staff on latest application updates and features. + Act as the central point of contact between the department and MTA-IT to track and provide support to the Engineering Department’s field crews for lost or broken devices; perform diagnostic checks and investigate mobile application that are not functioning properly; request remote assistance through MTA IT. + Create forecasting and ad-hoc reports to determine user needs based on senior management requests for the Engineering Department EAM Program. + Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to guidelines of company safety policies and procedures. Lead by example. + Assist with oversight and review of the Configuration Management process for LIRR PTC, performance of data security and maintenance tasks as needed. Develop and provide reporting metrics on selected performance elements. Ensure audits of the Configuration Management System are performed and meeting regulatory and internal requirements. Ensure all external audits are filtered through this position. + Perform other assignments as requested by Senior Management. QUALIFICATIONS: A). Required + Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering, or related field. An additional four years of demonstrated, directly related, equivalent experience and education may be considered in lieu of a degree. + Must possess 4 years’ experience in deploying devices and basic troubleshooting. + Working knowledge of mobile operating systems (IOS, Android). + Must possess strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. + Must be highly organized; a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. + Must have experience training users on mobile applications. + Must have administrative and functional expertise of Engineering’s Asset Management System, as the mobile functions are an extension of the “desktop” version of the applications. + Understanding basic concepts and relationships of an asset registry, including the role of spatial, performance, condition, and historical data. + Ability to accept new challenges. + Ability to organize workload – prioritize work effectively. + Must possess problem solving and decision-making skills. + Must possess an understanding of office software application in a windows environment. + Must possess a valid driver’s license to drive LIRR vehicles to crew locations. B.) Preferred + Experience and knowledge in the use of wireless technologies. + Basic understanding of computer networking technologies and support. + Operational expertise for various Engineering disciplines including, “signal, communication, structures and facilities, power and track. + Possess industry standard certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, etc.). + Knowledge and understanding of Engineering and company/department principles as they apply to all Engineering Disciplines.
