Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Intelligence Unit, AML Risk, the Manager, Effectiveness and Transformation supports in fulfilling their risk oversight accountability by supporting a consolidated view of AML and regulatory risk by gathering and monitoring AML risk reporting and converting the information into actionable intelligence. The Manager will also support the Senior Manager in analytics and reporting, coordination of QC, secondary review and case assignment, employee engagement activities, strategic initiatives and special projects, and other duties as assigned.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Support the Senior Manager, Financial Intelligence Unit in understanding enterprise-wide AML risks and providing oversight and governance in all relevant business lines. Manage FIU Quality Control (QC) and Secondary Reviews execution and reporting, including conducting analysis and driving initiatives from thematic findings related to quality performance. Manage FIU centralized case assignment execution and reporting, including conducting analysis and driving initiatives from thematic findings related to case management. Support aspects of regulatory management and exam readiness, public-private partnership support, industry benchmarking, and discussions with AML Technology and AML/ATF Models & Analytics. Collaborate with key TM stakeholders, including AML Operations Support & Delivery, on audit/issue management and closure, reporting, communications & change management, process/procedure enhancements, resource planning, and special projects. Support ongoing analytics and reporting focused on trends and emerging risks from different sources of information and across business units. Support communication and employee engagement strategies to create a culture of compliance to ensure staff adheres to the bank’s AML/ATF and Sanctions policies, procedures, and processes, and all other Bank policies (e.g., financial, HR). Support the design, assessment, and change management of bank-wide initiatives on behalf of the Senior Manager, Financial Intelligence Unit. Understand how the Bank’s Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Develop expertise with the applicable case management systems, bank information systems, and analytics reporting tools. Employ AML-related systems and process expertise and experience, identify and implement process enhancements, and oversee the resolution of systems and/or process deficiencies. Perform other duties as assigned.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:
Bachelor’s degree (University Degree) with a minimum of 3 years of experience in AML, Financial Crime, Compliance, Risk, and/or Audit capacity in a major financial institution; or equivalent in education and years of experience. Ability to maintain and develop reporting, including conducting analytics, is an asset. Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist designation is an asset. Ability to build strong cross-functional business relationships. Ability to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency without compromising compliance requirements. Strong problem-solving skills to deal with complex operational issues across functions. Demonstrates integrity when working with colleagues and leads others by setting an example of required behaviors. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to manage difficult conversations. Results-oriented, highly motivated with a keen ability to influence others. Self-reliant and proactive approach to work. Solid knowledge of Canadian AML/AFT regulations and regulatory reporting framework. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong organization and time management skills. Receives direction from the Senior Manager, Financial Intelligence Unit, and other senior management as appropriate on significant legal, regulatory, and reputational risk and policy matters.
